Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 07 8:53 pm)
Are you talking about the Supermodel Vickie morphs? I never noticed it, but it might be the dreaded offset finger problems that all the Vickie figures have - I think I fixed the SMV CR2 so the offsets were locked, so she can't get it, but I don't think I did that for SMMV, and if I did it would only be for the included CR2s. I think Jaeger has a hand Pose around that will fix the problem, though, did you look in Freestuff?
yes, got the Jaager hand pose but it only fixes Vickie 1, ideal human figure height. Vickie 2 (ideal human figure height) does not have the offset problem, which I only saw when using supermodel figure height on her. Jaager's pose has no effect on the offset for the Vickie 2 supermodel to which I applied it.
Oh my, but that cami top is nice. You realise of course that your clothing is the reason why my credit card remains full LOL And being the age I am, I actually own one of those snake arm bands s Bought it in my teenage years (you know, when dinosaurs roamed). Seriously though, SMMV and Essentials Pak 1 I would consider my Top 5 favourite purchases this year :)
Thanks Xena! The story about the finger offset is a strange and convoluted one, but the bottom line is a bad pose (that is, a pose made with an offset figure) will offset the fingers, as this offset gets saved with a pose (even though you don't have dials to set it), unless the fingers have had the offsets locked, which I belive the fix pose does. Vickie I or Vickie II shouldn't make any difference, I'm sort of suprized that DAZ didn't fix this properly - they zeroed the offsets but didn't lock them. The lock works by setting limits and forcing limits, incidently. So anyway, we might be talking about something else here.
Please excuse the interuption, but can someone please explain what Supermodel Vicki and Supermodel Morph Vicki are? Are they the same thing? If not, what's the difference? Do they require special clothing? Where can they be obtained? I looked in the Marketplace but only found Supermodel Morph Vicki. Thanks.
Supermodel Vicki (SMV) and Supermodel Morph Vicki (SMMV) aren't the same thing. I'm sure Jim will pop in and give you the in-depth details :) Because SMV and SMMV are basically Vicki, then I would assume the same amount of resources are used. I have 448Mb Ram + W98SE and have no problems using SMMV on a V2 base. For my tastes I prefer SMMV purely because I added all the morphs to V2 and can create any gorgeous face I want to go with SMV gorgeous body. The best part about SMV and SMMV are the clothes Jim keeps creating :) If you go to BBay and take a look at the clothing (if you're a closet Poser clothing junkie like me) designed for her, you'll see what I mean.
You can think of SMMV as "SMV Lite", while she wears the same clothing the detailing is a little better in SMV, and SMV also ships with some fairly nice hair and lingerie and a medium-good body texture. On the other hand, SMMV can use all of the Vickie II morphs (assuming you import them) like the long fingernails (SMV will get her own long fingernails too, in the next free upgrade. SMV also has a ERC (the Joint controled morph system for better bends) upgrade which Jim will improve later. As for resource, they are both really based on Vickie I, who is a little better than Vickie II on resourses (I've never been able to load Vickie II in my Mac, incidently). Anyway, the main thing about SMV and SMMV is they have clothing available that actually fits, and has morphs that match the body morphs. A big problem with Vickie II is supporting all the body morphs properly, I don't see how anybody does it fully, to tell the truth. But with SMV and SMMV you don't have to turn the dials to make them into a supermodel shape, that is the default! So all the clothing has to do is support minor changes like the "implants" setting (I know what men like!), "cleavage", "corset" and so on. The figure show is basicly the default SMV and SMMV shape.
Thanks, Mr. Burton. That clears it up a bit more, but one thing in your message confused me: "...SMMV can use all of the Vickie II morphs (assuming you import them)..." From your ad in the Marketplace, I thought it was the other way around--that Vickie II imports the "loose" morphs included with SMMV?

There are 2 CR2s in the SMMV package, one with Vickie feet, one with SMV feet, depending who's shoes you want to use. (The Nite Life shoes fit fine on the Vickie feet, incidently). There is also a loose set of morphs that you can load in Vickie II, but you are going to wind up with the Vickie feet, as the only way I could get SMV's "high-heel" feet was to modify the joint parameters in that CR2. There are a lot of advantages to the high-heel feet, with them everytime you use a pose, the feet don't go back to flat-foot, she stays on her toes, and it also works propery with the walk designer. So the deal is if you want to upgrade the high-heel version to Vickie II you have to use something like Morph Manager to import the morphs. Now the story with Supermodel Vickie is she can't use Vickie morphs except for the face, and she also has her own CR2 that must be used (SMV uses all modifided geometry, incidently) but if you want to import Vickie II face morphs I have a "Vickie" morph that makes her face back into Vickie (not SMV) so the morphs start from the right place. The morph will be in the next free upgrade, right now it is available as a loose morph at my website, per the link. Are we confused yet? ;-)Well, I've sort of backburnered that for now, as she can use all the Vickie II ones, but I think I'll have some addittional in the next CR2 upgrade, which will be out about the end of the month, I hope, about the same time as the Essentials II set. I'd like to do a "newlook" face for her too, for me faces work better as a total, rather than a collection of dial settings.

Not actually. She is getting a new snake armband, as shown, which I thought was pretty cute. I was sorely tempted to chop of the Poser snake's head and use it, but I took the high road and built one. She is also modeling her new camisole, and a couple other items which will be is Essentials II, which is finally getting worked on. I think I'm going to remove th eback pocked detail on the jeans though, as it sort of interferes with the streamlining, if you know what I mean. I sort of like this look, the pose started out as one on the Digiport ones, and once again the San Francisco hair is put on twice. No magnets were used on the hair, incidently, just the included morphs. As I work with the hair I'm seeing what will be in the free hair upgrade, incidently, I see a need for more dials on those front curls, for example, and more "curl-over-the-eye" morphs!
