Wow, I just discovered the beauty of Poser subdivision, thanks to ShvrDavid, at RDNA!  Unbelievable...I'm subdividing everything from now on, to see what happens.  :-)

Yes, please, Afrodite...would you do a subdivision render in Poser, so we can see what she looks like?  It might get rid of that wee bump in the thigh.  Or is that from shrinking the image?  :-)

I love me some Modo!  :-)

Feel free to SubD all you want ,but SubD meshes are modeled to be SubDed.
If the mesh was not modeled to be SubD you might get unwanted results.
For exsample Game Meshes ,Posetta/V1 does not SubD well.

Most SubD Meshes are 100% Quads.
The topology will have a good flow.

There exist meshes that are NOT 100% quads?  :-)  I'm joking.

Thanks for the tips.  Quads and watch the topology flow.  No poles, I'm assuming.

I do love that subd feature though, in Poser.  :-)

Vintorix, looks great! Both the fix for the tanktop and the other outfit! I wondered why I had a little trouble with the straps but thought it was just because this is the first weight mapped figure I've worked with. I used a spandex shader by kobaltqueen on my demo images. It doesn't have a big bump to it, thought I could up the value somewhat. The shorts that go with the tank top worked fine in several different poses so I think they work good. PM me when you get time. I do like the look of the second outfit!

I have P2014, but that script would be handy for the folks who haven't upgraded.  Subd can really improve the looks of some garments and characters.  Not that Dawn isn't beautiful in A-O's render.  Without subd.  :-)

The most important, to me, is her rigging. She is fully weight-mapped (meaning that, to support her, vendors had to make the choice of letting go of Poser users with older versions, but will now have to worry less with compatibility of their products), and she bends amazingly well.

Afrodite-Ohki ( ) posted Tue, 30 July 2013 at 9:07 AM

I'm having a blast to rig my outfit for her in Poser. WM makes everything so much easier! She's super easy to understand, too. It's great.

Also, she uses bulge maps in many body parts. Those are found in the Joint Editor. If you copied joints from her, and something in your clothing looks spiked when bent even after you smoothed the WM to no end, check if it has a bulge map - that one probably needs to be smoothed too.

Dawn is very pretty, in your renders.  I'm looking forward to modeling for her, when she's released.

And yes, weight mapping is fun.  I didn't like it much, to start with, but once I learned to paint those dots...it's great!

I'm not real expert at it yet, but I'm learning.  :-)

Thanks, Afrodite.  You bring good news.

DAZ stop making characters made for Poser.
with DSON ya could use DAZ Studio Genesis characters in Poser but they where not made for Poser.
So some had issues with DSON Genesis.
Since 99.9% of all Poser Renders have DAZ characters mostly the 2006 V4 in them.
DAZ divided in to DAZ & HiveWire3D.
HiveWire3D Makes up to date Poser Characters made for Poser.
Something Poser has not had since 2006.
You know how out dated 7 year old tech is.

Just a few notes -

Quote - DAZ divided in to DAZ & HiveWire3D.

Daz did not divide into Daz & Hivewire - the people who started Hivewire used to work for Daz and left the company some time ago.

Quote - HiveWire3D Makes up to date Poser Characters made for Poser.

Hivewire3d is just making Poser Characters.  There are separate versions of Dawn for DS and for Poser, and Hivewire itself is a company whose store will sell things for different programs

That's pretty cool -- not that there had to be separate Poser/DS figures, but that HW took the time to do that.  :-)

We might as well face it...some of us are going to like Poser better, and some DS.  No shame, no blame, that's just the way it is.  Just like some of us like to model in Silo, some in Modo, some in Lightwave, some in Zbrush...we're individuals.  It'd be boring if we were all clones.

I've always said Lightwave divided in to Lightwave & Mode.
No ones ever fussed at me over it.

I never said Dawns just for Poser and not for DAZ Studio.
I never said HiveWire3D is a restricted store.

I have DAZ Studio and Poser .
Even talked to the DAZ Crew on the Lightwave forums,
Think is was back in the V3 days.

I wish DAZ,HiveWire3D,Poser the Best .
I would never wish a Artist bad.

Most of all I Sincerely wish Dawn will end the Civil War.

Agreed :)  I use both programs, too, and hate the division between people using them.

The problem is that the programs have diversed. Lot of content designed for one program does not work in the other and vice versa.

So it is not a matter of choosing the program, but the content you are going to use often dictates the program you are going to use.

If Dawn is really a figure with content which can be used in both programs, then that would be a step in the right direction. But it has to work good in both programs and one version cannot have a subset of the funcionality compared to the other version.

We will see when Dawn is released
