Since you are using PP2014, have you changed any settings before render? And are you using Gamma in your render settings? If you are and you have not adjusted any other settings, I would say that the gamma settings for your transparency maps are off. Easily correctable by opening the transparency image node in the advanced Material Room and change the gamma to 1 in the texture manager.

It is simple actually.
All color maps need to be loaded with Gamma set at 2.2, or use Render Gamma settings when you render at gamma 2.2 (what you always should do)
All Black and White maps that drive transparancy, bump or displacement should be loaded at Gamma 1.

Yep, I did check that, and that is exactly what it's set at in the render settings.
There's a script that handles image gamma in the scene that you can access through your Scripts menu. It's called "Image Gamma." I can't remember where normal people have it (I customize my Scripts folders), but it will give you a list of the images in your scene and what they're plugged into. You can usually tell what an image is for by it's name, but if you can't, what it's plugged into should tell you. Everything that's a black and white intensity map, you should set to gamma 1. Bump map, specular map, trans map, displacement map, masks, etc. Anything that controls a value rather than a color.
What you have change is not in render settings (unless you want to disable gamma correction and render the old way).
This thread shows you where to find the script that lets you change the transmap, bump map, etc. gamma.

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Unless my copy is totally different, Change Gamma is not what you should use to change the gamma of your intensity maps (bump, trans, displacement, etc.). Image Gamma is. As described it will "change the texture gamma values on either the current material, the current figure or all props and figures." In other words, it will make the gamma on all your images the same for a given selection (material, figure, or scene). Image Gamma will let you have different gammas for maps with different purposes.
MKeyes - did you get it sorted out. all your hair will have the same problem until you get the hang of this.
