All I can say about this is just simply WOW!!!!  I tried it out this morning and was just blown away by how easy it was to do and the quality of the texture conversion.  This is the Dublin texture by Danae converted to Dawn.  Had to do some monkeying around with the eye textures and the lashes but overall I'm really pleased with the result.

Quote - It is located in the may at Menu->Utility Tools->Texture TransformerAlso, when realityPaint is in demo mode, you can perform the conversion and the textures will be exported with a watermark, so you can give it a round trip test in Poser to make sure it works as expected.

I can't find it in the demo version. :(

The realityPaint v1.0.4.1 demo crashes instantly when I try to run in on my Windows 8 64bit machine now matter what compatibility I try.

i'd love to try it out too but same here, with W7/64, instant appcrash.  :( my old copy of B3D runs flawlessly.

The crash problem on some systems has been fixed in the latest update, but you need to run to program to get the latest update :S

I'll update the installer to include the newest update now, and let you know when it's ready to download.

Thank you very much for the kind words. Regarding the eyes, that problem and a few others will be fixed in the next update. There is still a wee bit of tweaking to be done with the conversion files, but we're aiming to have it as close to perfect as possible withing the next week.

The windows installer has been updated with the latest version, including the Texture Transformer, so please re-download and re-install the software and hopefully all should be good.

Worked like a dream right out of the box.

Looks like what I need, I just can't afford the whole suite because I'm probably needing a root canal soon. I need the stand alone utility. I'll wait for that, but I sure like what I see! Well done!

It says V4 to Roxie and V4 to V6 are coming soon and other figures if there's any demand. Somehow I have a feeling this isn't going to be going anywhere for me. Ah well, hopefully I'm wrong! ;)

It says on the site that a V4 -> Roxie is in the works. I hope over time it will do more than just females. M4 ->Rex & the G2 males for instance

I just tried the demo. It works ok. I'm a little curious about HOW to use it with anything but the default V4 tex.. You would have to save that as a new CR2, right? or am I missing something?

I can't figure that texture transfer brush out either. The automatic thing works fine, but the transfer brush.. does that require two identical objects? It would be cook if it could somehow work across figures too...

(oh and.. sorry.. I don't like the new interface.. I was just about used to BS4 L and now everything has changed again...)

How do you chose the texture in the test version?  When I launch the tool it asks me for the location of the V4.2 CR2, the Dawn CR2, and the folder I want to save the converted textures to.  I can't figure out where to chose the texture I want to convert.  Will I have to add it to V4 and save as a new CR2?   Thanks.

Indeed, you simply save a new CR2 file in your library with the textures, and then specify that as your source CR2. Also note that CRZ files are indeed supported incase you are using compression in your library.

You and me both - the G2 figures are currently my "go to" figures - I'll add Tyler the moment he is added.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sat, 14 September 2013 at 2:42 PM

Ooooh yes. Tyler with M4 textures.... Then we're talking :D

I don't mind Dawn being the first supported character at all, the poor girl needs some skin, but I just hope it won't stop with the females...

pigfish9 ( ) posted Sat, 21 September 2013 at 10:30 AM

It took me two tries to DL from HW because it stalled out the first time.

Do you have Mozilla?  If you open the downloads page from the main menu, you can click on the play button next to the download and it will start back from that point.

And to address someone else's concern lately about a download from HW, I paid via PayPal.  (They thought that maybe PayPal was causing the DL issues)

ghostman ( ) posted Sat, 21 September 2013 at 10:36 AM

Hard to belive really that PayPal is causing the corrupt file issue when downloading from HW.

I do not think PayPal was the problem since it only took me two tries.  I think I got one of those server unavailable messages the first time like either the server timed out or lost connectivity.

"Hi Everyone. The problem is on our side. Last night we changed a compression setting on our server to try to make it run faster and the setting is corrupting the downloads. That is why it worked for some of you that downloaded it yesterday before the setting change... and for some it does not. We are trying to get things set back the way they were. Our hope is that in a few hours, everyone can just try to re-download it and all will be fine. If its still corrupted after the setting change, we will have to manual add it again to each of your accounts.

Sorry about the hassle!

I'm working on converting all the parts of a texture set (makeup, lips, eyes, etc.).  I created a V4.2 CR2 for each of the options and am converting each.  I plan to save only the texture part I need (example eye maps, face maps, etc.) and put them in one texture folder and then go to the Materials Room and create a new Dawn texture set where I can change eye color, makeup, etc.

Is this the best workflow for this process?  If anyone has found a quicker or easier way to convert an entire texture set for a figure I would be greatful if you would share it with me.

Thank you.

andolaurina ( ) posted Mon, 23 September 2013 at 10:21 AM

It would be cool if an update of the software could process through a folder of pz2s or mc6s for a particular character after having converted a master cr2 for that character.

And then to retain the shader settings of the original files.

This is my first conversion of an old favorite.  Angharad by Ceridwen.  I love how realistic this texture is.  Morph is just dial spins by me from base and starter morphs.  The conversion process was fairly quick (I did 4000x4000 .jpg) and very easy.

I wanted to show the difference between using the MAT pose crested by the converter vs. copying the V4 Material Room settings to Dawn and replacing with the new Dawn textures.  Both V4 and Dawn are unmorphed.

hborre ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2013 at 9:20 PM

Does the MATPose retain the MATRoom Shaders or does it strip it out for a simpler arrangement?  I don't have the software yet to make that determination.  For my purposes, I would make a straight conversion and give it the EZSkin treatment for more realistic texturing.

willyb53 ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2013 at 9:26 PM

Should come accross same way, only difference is in the header part.  I use all the time for SSS shaders.

pigfish9 ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2013 at 10:21 PM

One of the textures in this set has s specularity map.  The program did not convert it from the CR2.  I had to apply it the the texture map of the material file, save a new CR2, and do another conversion to get the specularity map.  The new MAT file was just the texture and bump map with no other shaders.  I ended up having a Poser document with both V4 and Dawn so I could apply the original texture to V4 and copy her nodes to Dawn and then replace the V4 textures with the new Dawn textures.

I had thought the program would convert the shaders, but it makes sense that it doesn't since it saves a MAT pose file rather than a material file.

willyb53 ( ) posted Tue, 24 September 2013 at 10:47 PM

mat poses can do specularity/displacement etc.  texture tansfer does not transfer them.  In one case, using a totally untextured model, I connected displacement to diffuse and ran, which gave me the converted displacement maps which I then loaded to the original texture by hand and saved as a mat  pose.  It works fine.
