Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 07 12:47 pm)
Is this the internal or external Library? The Internal Library uses Flash, but the External LIbrary uses Adobe Air. I'd first try switching to the other Library and see if that resolves it. Then update the approipriate Adobe software, and finally rename LibraryPrefs.xml to something else and see if Poser's re-creation of that file works.
If the latter works, you can edit it with a text editor to add the external runtimes from the file you renamed...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Sorry, I didn't think to mention that... I only ever use the Poser runtime ("Poser Pro 2010 Content")... Which is what I think is the internal runtime (right?)... I don't use external runtimes... ones on other hard drives (right?)... How do I switch libraries... I looked in General Preferences and didn't see anything that appears to give that option.

General Preferences> Library tab there is a Launch Behavior setting...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."I never undock it... I may have accidentally moved it top the top (switched positions with the parameters windows)... but I never undock it...
Flash is as up to date as my OS will allow, and aside from the installer and uninstallers for Adobe AIR which I can find in my Utilities folder, I see no other way to access AIR... I did a software update check, but the computer claims everthing is up to date.
That being said, I see no obvious way to choose a library...
The General Prefs menu is not giving me a choice...
Click on "external" and that will enable the AIR library. You might have to restart Poser afterwards; I don't recall. It's been so long since I've used the embedded library I don't even have Flash on that machine any more...
EDIT!!
OH! Before you do that, try setting your Search preference to "shallow"!

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Here is something odd... I noticed that another thread appeared here about a similar issue just now... I wondered if it could be something internet connected... I disconnected my computer from the internet and Poser loads the library just fine... Plug it back in and it does not load... checked it several times and I get the same results.
Could this really be internet connected? The internet connection is to SmithMicro (right?)... could it be something on their end is messing me up?? Whats the purpose of that connection anyway?

Okay... I'm going to experiment with that too... Would that have anything to do with the internet access issue I mentioned above? BTW- thanks for the help!!
I believe this definitely has something to do with the internet access... I switched to AIR and it completely locked up... no loading the library at all tried several times and then (by the way when I say tried several times, I mean I closed poser and opened it again each "try").... then I opened it again with the internet disconnected and "boom" I had the libraries open. Tried again to confirm and it opened no problem... shut down Poser and opened it with the internet on and the libraries would not load... it just hung. I switched back to the previous set up and did an internet disconnect test again and the libraries will only load while disconnected.
I'll leave it as "embedded"(Flash-or Docked) as it looks neater and I don't use external runtimes... This is weird, I guess till I solve this or it "heals" on its own, I'll have to start Poser with the internet off.
Very weird.

This is the other thread about this bug.I checked four more times on/off and the libraries only load with the internet off... it is very weird.
I've seen that error whe I've used Poser Pro 2010 on an airplane without internet access. (an air error?) However, whenever I clicked OK the library came up...

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."You need to adjust your firewall settings to allow the library code to access the localhost (127.0.0.1)
When you disconnect from the internet, it allows the internal connection. Once you hook to it again, it is blocking the library.
Some things are easy to explain, other things are not........ <- Store -> <-Freebies->

If that were the cause, wouldn't people have already experienced this problem? Like when the program was released. And wouldn't it affect all versions of Poser on a single computer.
I just checked my Poser Pro 2010, and the library refuses to load with internet connected, Poser Pro 2014 loads just fine though.

I am on a desktop PC, which automatically connects to the internet on boot-up. How can I drop the internet connection using keyboard and mouse? rather than going on all fours behind my computer table and finding which wire and unplugging it.(The other message on this theme is at this address.)

Right click your network icon in your system tray > Open Network and Sharing Center. Go to Change Adapter Settings on the left and you'll see your lan adapters. Right click on the one you have your ethernet plugged into and choose Disable. When you want it back, same process and choose Enable.
This is for Win7, prior to that and I don't remember. Same thing iirc, just not in the same spot.

I wouldn't have gathered that from his "I'm on a desktop pc" line, but hey, first for everything. lol

"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Just now I unplugged my internet link (it is a "fast link" via a telephone line) & called a Poser job. The library window displayed blurred, overlain with an error window. I clicked OK on the error window, & the library came up OK & I did Poser work with it.
But with my internet link plugged in so I can post this message, the library fault is back.

Hi there and thanks for looking...
First I should probably mention that this is occuring on a Mac (OS 10.6.8)
About two weeks ago I had a problem with Poser Pro not loading the libraries... upon opening PP2010 it would try for a few seconds and then give some error message, I googled the problem and found someone who had the same problem (oddly I can no longer locate that same thread/post) the suggestion that seemed to work was to upgrade flash (or Java- I forget which it said)... My computer has been bugging me to do this so I upgraded both and some other things as well). This seemed to work and after I installed all those it worked fine.
Well, until this morning. Now I get no error message it tries for about 40 seconds or so (the usual time it takes to load the library) and loads a blank window. Normally the bottom portion of the library window usually displays "Transactions Pending" and "In Progress"- which normally is around 475 "transaction pending" and 4 "in progress" (which by the way, I have no idea what that means, but I suppose it is displaying what it is searching for/through...475+ items in my runtime?... what is there 4 of "in progress" though?)... anyway now the search only goes up to 2 transactions pending and 2 in progress, then I get the spinning beach ball it goes the normal load time and then nothing...
I can load scenes as far as I can tell, I tried two and they seem to load properly.
Sorry I can not remember what the previous error message was, I seemed to have solved the problem in a few minutes, so I didn't write it down or anything.
I tried googling various versions of "Poser pro 2010 library wont load" or anything that conveys that same idea, and it has been utterly useless.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give on this issue and sorry if I left anything out.
