Subject: Characters Merging

Hi All.

Hope you can help. Getting back into Poser are quite some time, and got myself 2014, and now use Win7 64bit. Loaded a lot of stuff from my archive and got stuck in. I created a couple of characters, one on the M4 base, and one on the K4 base. Each was given a name and saved to their respective external runtimes. I also saved them to my library, again into their appropriate runtime window. Fine so far. Each will individually load into a new screen with no problem, however, if I load K4 into a screen in which the M4 character is already loaded, the K4 character does not appear, but the pose and morphs move to the M4 character. If I do it the other way round, K4 first, I get an equal and opposite effect. I'm sure I'm doing something dumb, because I've never had a problem like this, way back when.

Hope someone can suggest something. Cheers Gray

what are you clicking to load the figure. In Poser 7 there are two check buttons. One loads a new figure, one replaces the current figure with the new one.

It sounds like you are doing the replace option.

I dont know how the 2014 library works but it should be fairly obvious and there is always the manual.

just reread your post and you dont describe exactly a replacement so make sure you are loading them correctly to eliminate that. Perhaps try one of the native poser figures to see what happens there.

In 2014, you can set the mouse behavior of loading figures/props into the scene through the General Preferences.  The double-click options are *Add to scene *or Replace existing.  I don't remember which is the default. You also get replace or add new options with the check buttons at the bottom of the Library as markschum stated.

Yea, a bit vague there, wasn't I. I'll go back and try a basic model and then load a saved character. I'll be back.

Cheers. Gray
