Subject: Purchasing from Renderosity and Finding in DAZ

Hello!

Thanks for reading this one because I'm a bit of a loss here. I have purchased some content (I have the requisite DAZ content for the purchased items). For example I purchased Jake and Jeffrey (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/p3d-jake-jeffrey/94447/). When I installed the files, here is the location of the folder:

My DAZ 3D Library->Runtime->Libraries->Pose-> "P3D Jake and Jeffrey"

However, I cannot locate any of the content within this folder within DAZ itself. Admittedly, I'm knew getting back to DAZ so I'm really rusty here, but the new Content Library Function is HORRIBLE!!!

When I go into the Content Library to find these materials, I can even try a words search and nothing comes up. I just don't know where all of my purchased content is going within DAZ because I sure as heck cannot find it anywhere.

Thanks,

Jason

It should be in the Content Library pane, Poser Formats>My DAZ 3D Library>Pose>P3D Jake and Jeffrey. It won't show as Smart Content.

OK, so I figured out how to import the Poser body shape to the figure. However, now I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get the skin to attach correctly. Every time I trie, the eyes and the lips are off (see attached). I just get really aggrivated by the lack of decent documentation for DAZ. Half their wiki site doesn't work. I just don't understand why this is so complicated. I just feel like I'm missing something here because something is clearly going WAY wrong.

Thanks,

Jason

I don't have this product, but there are both Genesis and M4 versions of these characters. Are you trying to use the M4 or Genesis version.

If you have installed the Genesis pieces correctly, they will be under "DAZ Studio Formats -> My DAZ Library -> People -> Genesis -> Characters -> P3D Jake and Jeffrey"

That image looks like something you might get if the UVs were wrong on Genesis.

By default Genesis uses V4 UV mapping.  In Studio it is easy to change the UV mapping, you will have to ask how to do it in Poser.

Figuring out how to install your products and find them after you have installed them is a poorly documented area.  New users almost always have trouble with this.

The path "Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Pose > P3D Jake and Jeffrey" contains morphs and material for the M4 version. The Head and Body morphs in "Jake > !Morphs" and "Jeffrey > !Morphs" are for M4.

The Skin mats in "Jake > DAZ Mats" and "Jeffrey > DAZ Mats" should work on Genesis, since Genesis will support M4 skins, but this product has Skin Mats in the Genesis install that I would use with Genesis. The M4 morph injections definitely will not work correctly with Gensis.

The path "DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ Library > People > Genesis > Characters > P3D Jake and Jeffrey" contains the Genesis morphs and DAZ skin material. There are Gensis injection morphs in "Jake" and "Jeffrey" under this along with skin presets.

I don't actually own this product. This is based on the Readme file I downloaded for this product.

To change the UV mapping in DAZ Studio, look in the Surfaces (color) tab for the parameter labeled "UV Set".  For all materials, that dropdown value needs to be changed from the (potentially) incorrect value to the correct value that matches what you have.  Except, that isn't working for me right now, although I've gotten it working in the past; there must be a second step I'm overlooking.

You are changing the UV Set after applying the materials? And to the right option - a lot of characters that list Victoria 5 or whatever as a required product still use the V4 UVs, the V5 element they use is just the morph, so you can't trust the "... for so-and-so" in the product name as an indicator.
