Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 18 10:25 am)
Attached Link: Get FREE P3dO mExplorer HERE
*(click the image to view full size)*I use P3dO Explorer from Senosoft.
It works great.
You can view .obj files directly and rotate the view.
And ... It's FREE !!!

I use Kawecki's Prop Viewer (as linked by willyb53) all the time for viewing OBJ, 3DS and prop files with internal geometry. It's fast and has other useful features too.
However if it can't understand your file, you get the Utah Teapot instead. :) Two main reasons for this are:
Your OBJ was 'squished' for use as a morph target, i.e. it has no facet information; no polygons. Your only option in this case is to use a viewer or modeller that will display vertex-only information.
(Not relevant to you, since you're viewing OBJs) You gave it a prop file which calls an external geometry file. In that case you need to find where the geometry is and view that instead.
In general survives to corrupt meshes without crashing and tries to repair it whenever is possible.
You can load Poser meshes with internal geometry (pp2, cr2, hr2) and dynamic hair and can load 3ds, obj, dxf, ply, off and stl formats.
Can export as obj, pp2 and LuxRender (lxo+lxm+lxs)
You can perform several operations with the mesh: Reverse normals, Mirror,X,Y,Z; Weld, Convert to quads, Convert to triangles, Split, Smooth (taubin), Subdivision (Middle-point), Fix normals, Remove duplicated faces, Remove non two-manifold faces
Just finished something like drape or convert to a regular mesh (don't know can call it)
Not all these features are present in the uploaded version.

Working in other subdivision schemes, decimation and Poisson reconstruct (turn point cloud into a mesh)
Stupidity also evolves!

I finally got an ancient HD of mine reading...and happily found a folder with...unfortunatly hundreds of OBJs. Random stuff that had been downloaded over the years. The names on the files do not really tell me much.(I think there is nearly a gazillion "arches")

is there a program out there that will let me see the OBJ without me having to load each and every single one in poser? Something that will allow me to see a thumbnail like when I open a folder that has jpgs and it lets me see them?
