Subject: Tutorial: Make you own vascularity for your poser models

There are several tutorials on how to make your veins poser models, however ¿what if you want to have colored those veins?, There is a bit more complicated matter.

A while ago I bought a PSD to create my own veins for my warriors but when asked how my incorporate the veins to my models the vendors replied that I was to investigate for myself .

Ok I Investigate and will explain not only how to incorporate colored veins ,also make a beautiful veins color from some maps of veins (which may be already made or you can paint yourself ,  is not necessary spend even one dollar, and this works for ANY Poser model  and in poser 2012/14/16/18

First of all we create our color maps using our maps bump or displace (black and white maps) there are several tutorials on the web explaining how to create bump or displaces   vein maps  for poser so I skip that part)
To create color maps have to open our veins maps(view attach)

Then create a color fill layer we want to be our veins blue red green purple , you chosse , and then change the blending mode to Soft Light (frame or color also works sometimes) (view attach)

Ok first of all need a model, take M4 add bodybuilder   morph and render it

Ok,he is  in a very good shape, he can be a future mr olimpya , but there is a problem, no veins

Ok go to the material room and add a node  - 2d texture - image  map to displace channel (or bump node you choose) to use the example 0.009 (see picture)

Ok, copy and paste this in all areas (you need made torso and limbs separately, of course)

our bodybuilder and has good veins, but what about the color?

once we have our color maps (made from original maps veins) will put them as follows

disconnect the node that gives color (usually connected to diffuse Alternate)

and place the middle node "color_math" with "math argument" multiply (both color white) where we connect the value 1, the node that had disconnected and 2, a 2D texture -> image map -> look for the color map we created the photoshop.

The texture streng gives strength to the color,

Copy and paste the texture, then do the same with the map colored limbs

looks better , remember,you can  playing with colors with thick veins (imagination is your limit)  on occasion to bump veins you must apply a Gaussian filter to be softer

I use photoshop in Spanish if any badly done translations or something wrong explained, please Tell it

I hope you liked it, you can improve, modify and share this tutorial as you wish

Believe it or not, Mods CANNOT edit the titles of threads! (At least I never figured out how to!)

You don't need to make a color map. You can use the white-on-black veins map connect to a Blender node's blending input. Then connect the original color to both color inputs of the Blender, only make the first color chip white, and the second one blue. Adjust the strength by setting the blending value.

You will usually get a better answer about such things by asking me instead of a vendor.

yes, I must admit that you're right ,some sellers before purchasing something , answered anything immediately,  after you buy it,  do not answer the pm ( of course  not all the same, the majority of sellers  do everything possible to help you )

honestly I could do that with a white map with black veins but not as you say (black background and white veins), when you have a minute I would like that you will tell me how to connect the nodes to make the color map from bump without having to create a new color map in photoshop

Right I thought I already did tell you. You quoted it.

  • You can use the white-on-black veins map connect to a Blender node's blending input.
  • Then connect the original color to both color inputs of the Blender
  • make the first color chip white
  • the second one blue
  • Adjust the strength by setting the blending value

I searched everywhere for a vascular map and found no free ones. So I demonstrate in the attached image using a photo of some lightning.

As an example of how easy it is to apply a different color or intensity - I repeat but now with red and blending set to .7 instead of .5.

If you want to save yourself a ton of time on special effects, you really want to learn to use the blender node. Here's a setup that uses that same vascular map to put blood on top of the skin instead of underneath. It works by not only modulating the diffuse color, but also by modulating (via a second blender) the specularity of the surface. I added fresnel blended reflection and blinn and combined that with the original skin-like blinn, modulated via the lightning map.

You could not do this right with photoshop - waste of time, because the effect is based on lighting and environment and camera angles.

ok bagginsbill, I  follow your instructions for not using the color map and only use black and white bump:

to the original texture (blender)  connected to the diffuse alternatte ,  I  disconnect andadd a node blender (blender4) in the middle (for the torso and for the limbs)

I change the red / pink for a stronger blue and he drops a little color strength (0.300000)

Now this better, remember, you can play with the colors, with the strength values, your imagination is the limit and the best part is it's free (work in P2014 and 2012 sure)
