Subject: "conform to" problems

clatsopduck ( ) posted Tue, 01 July 2014 at 2:47 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 4:21 PM

I guess I have too many figures in my scene at the moment... Designed a scene first and am now adding my figure. Problem is, even when I'm using clothes designed for her figure (Sydney), I'm not able to select her when trying to use the "conform to" command... it doesn't show Sydney as an option...
Is that simply because I have too many figures (mostly trees, lol) that it doesn't scroll down far enough? Or is something else going on?

I've not had much luck in making new props in the fitting room yet (weird problems when I try that), so I'm really not sure how to fix this problem.

FIY, I'm definitely sure it's not simply me not clicking on the right things... as I deliberately click on the clothing and then try to "conform to" Sydney.

Using Poser Pro 2014, 64 bit.

Thanks for any ideas!

You may actually have Sydney selected, sometimes the picker isn't very smart. Try using the drop down instead of manually clicking. Especially when youre scene gets crowded, it can be a lot easier to use the drop down menu. You can find it above your Parameters tab.  Click it, then navigate to the clothing in question and then use the conform to Menu option. If she still isn't showing up there could be other factors involved so I would contact Tech Support.

I definitely am doing it the correct way. But in the drop down menu, it has all the other figures I'm using (a bunch of trees) without getting to Sydney - who was added last, so at the bottom of the list. It really is like the drop down menu has simply run out of space...

At least one person in my Poser FB group reported having the same problem.

Oh, and when I use the drop down menu for the main frame (i.e. below the "preview" tab), I do see Sydney with no trouble.

A better workflow, dress Sydney separately on a stage by herself and perhaps posed in a preferred action.  Delete all other ground planes and lights and save your scene.  Go to your populated scene and import the Sydney pz2.  All you need then is to move her to your selected location.

I'd thought of something similar... it will be a pain, of course, if I need to change her clothes, etc. Just hoped there might be an easier way "on set".

Thanks.

Also if things are getting crowded and you want to directly click in the scene you could take all the trees or whatever is hogging the scene and put them in a Grouping object.  From heirarchy window or properties tab, you can hide or show the grouping object as you need and everything inside of it will hide or show.

That's a truly brilliant idea (although my perspective is that of a newbie) - I have worked with groups for hair, but hadn't thought to try and use it for this.

(Off to play...)

Okay. That's not going too well. I thought this would be something I could do from the Pose room... but maybe there's another way.

Basically, I can name a group, but can't add anything to it - nor does it seem to stay as a group...

An alternative approach is to get you scene set and then export all/some elements as an object or a prop. You may need to make several items if you want flexibility with camera views. Import into a new scene and then add characters/clothes. As you not above it can make last minute changes awkward
