Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
yes I verified that the drive does in fact work and it responds to the disc of an earlier version of Poser (PP2010) as well. As you can see by my list, I have troubleshot quite a few possibilities, drive, disc ... I know that sometimes the disc is too clean and needs to be wiped down ... that didn't work either. I made sure that it wasn't the wrong label that it in fact was the Windows disc and checked the Mac disc as well.
Thank you for your response.

It's Win or Mac isn't it ?
Why would you need a Win** and** Mac Disc ?
As far as I know
Win Disc goes with a PC only
Mac Disc goes with a Mac only

Boni, try to check the disc on someone elses driver if it's possible. Friends, workplace? Because it's also possible that the disc is empty. Had something like that once with a music CD. Also had once a DVD with a different film than the one that was labelled on the disc. A simple error by the factory who prints the discs is something most people don't think of when ruling out the source of the problem. But it happens.
Thank you for that advice, SM beat you to it though and suggested the same thing. I did test the disc on my partner's laptop and had the same results. I'm awaiting SM's response for the next step today. (it's not 8:00 am yet). Thank you everyone. You are all so helpful.

lets try this again
In my PC ya can see DVD DW Drive (D:) if there's no disc
or if it's not reading the disc at all.
I don't have a poser disc
but The Frozen Throne disc reads
DVD DW Drive (D:)
The Frozen Throne
0 bytes free of 480 MB
if ya see something like
DVD DW Drive (D:)
poser
o bytes free of ....MB
then at least ya know it's reading the disc.
disc size or right click properties.
if theres no file size the its probably a blank.
ya can right click and open in new folder see if theres anything on the disc.
if there is not then it's blank
if there is look for a poser.exe click on it to install.
command prompts ya can load a disc.
if it's not reading the discc at all open shut open shut Drive (D:) a couple times see if it finaly catches.
think ya might be able to look on the poser disc and see where it's been burned.
maybe not.
in the old days if all we got was "insert disc". we would use vaseline rub some vaseline on are skin under part of are forarms where there's no hair.whip it off then rub the disc on are skin to get a very small amount of vaseline on the disc.as odd as it sounds it would work.

And I would make a back up of those CD's as soon as possible.
Then install the latest SR and the content updater to get the newest versions of Rex and Roxy, and faceroom compatibility.
