Subject: Putting a P5 DON head on a P7 Simon figure?

hamiltonpl ( ) posted Fri, 26 December 2014 at 6:51 PM · edited Thu, 06 February 2025 at 8:13 PM

Likely this has been asked and answered and I apologize in advance.   Is there a way to easily put a P5 Don head/morph onto the P7 Simon Figure?  I ask because I have a good faceroom result that I just cannot get with the Simon head - however the body has morphs I need that the P5 does not.

I know that I can attach - I presume - the P5 to the P7 figure and make one head invisible and the other not.  But, is there any other way to make this happen?

Thanks.

You could try the Morph Brush.  This works on body shapes, but I haven't yet tried it myself on a face...

Darn it.  I have Poser Pro 2012.  That Tighten option is available until Poser 10 - the next release after this one.

Any other ideas on getting a P5 morph onto a P7 Simon?

You could do two renders with the same lighting and pose. One of Don and one of Simon. Then cut Don's head off in a paint program and paste it over Simon's head.

Other options that I could think of would require projection in ZBrush that could call for massive cleanup, making the whole thing really not worth the effort.

Long time ago, must have been around 2005-2006 right after the P5, release,  someone here put the P4 head on the P5 male.

In a 3D app, he cut out the P4 head including half the neck to reuse, and cut the head including half the neck, off the P5 male.

Then he build a obj file using the P4 male head, and the P5 male body, and reconstructed the polygons to build a new neck and to group them back together.

Then he edited a cr2, to use the P4 head and the P5 body.

All morphs worked on head and body.
But I remember he lost the neck morphs and had to rebuild those as well.

If, and I say if, there are somewhere archives about the 2002-2006 period, it must be there somewhere

I used to have a printout, but. . . . . . Tja, we are 2015 and so many Poser versions and figures later.

A cr2 guru, can certainly pull off something like this.

Interesting.  What I did do is parent the P5 neck to the P7 neck.  So now I have a P7 body with the P5 head. Of course I am making the P5 body invisible. And because he's wearing a turtleneck - it covers up the seams but I matched them pretty well and you can't tell.

The reason I did this was I wanted to have a more pear shaped body with the FBMs available with Simon.  They aren't there for P5 Don.

This is for an animation so as I import BVH files in they will be applied to the Simon body.  A lot or trouble in a way but I wish there were a more seamless way of doing this with the CR2 file. That would be nice.
