Any thoughts on this one for Poser:

Spend a little more, and get a much better monitor

It depends on how you set up your poser interface.

The main problem I find with HD monitors is the 1080 height which results in a lot of vertical scrolling. This monitor does nothing to address that.

It's aimed at the kind of user who views movies on a pc and having movies displayed in cinematic ratios with no black bars above and below will look amazing.

I think the 27" monitors with 1440p vertical resolution are better for productivity.

If I had unlimited money it would actually be the big brother of the monitor you mention the 34UM which has both the ultra wide and more vertical resolution.

I would probably even get one of those instead of moving to 4K!

This one would be nice.

It's easy to get bamboozled by the jargon and to assume that more (higher numbers) is better. This monitor would be great for watching HD Videos or doing a bit of video editing, but that's about it.

300 cd/m2 is very bright, anything more than about 160 cd/m2 would start to hurt your eyes in typical office lighting.

5,000,000 : 1 contrast is so insane that it's meaningless - read further and they state a 1000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, which equates to around 250:1 to 300:1 as your viewing experience.

A Dell ViewSonic VP2772 27 for around the same money will be much more accurate, is probably better for your eyes and will almost certainly last longer.

Do your homework, and get a monitor that actually supports different resolutions that you will actually use.

Also keep in mind other things, like are you going to watch movies or play games on it.

If you want one that can be used for lots of things and lots of resolutions, get something similar to this and it's capabilities.

And forget HDMI, get a video card with display port and 4 gig of memory at a minimum.

Don't buy a lesser monitor, then discover it's downfalls....................

Those ultra-wide monitors look cool, would be great with Cubase to have a really wide mixer, and to be able to see every bus simultaneously, very nice!

But while I've never actually sat in front of one of those things, I'm not sure I could get used to a curved screen.  I suppose they do it due to limitations in viewing angles, but still, the curve seems a bit gimmicky.  I'd want one a lot more if they used an led for each pixel so there'd be no viewing angle problem, and therefore no need to curve the screen to compensate.

Still, like I said though, I think they're very cool.
