I don't really care about it either, but I don't like it when I get called out because of it. That woman who berated me about that ad that I posted really spun me up, but I couldn't really tell her where to go and what do with herself when she got there like I wanted to. The atmosphere has changed so much for the military it isn't even funny. I could see the writing on the wall when we had the big debacle known as 'Tail Hook' in the '90's and the fallout from there. It has gotten progressively worse over the years. I still think I retired at the best possible time for me and my beliefs. I would have been thrown out on my ear if I had stayed in and voiced my opinion of the direction the military in general was going. Not my cup of tea, so the saying goes. I don't normally even have an opinion on most of these matters until someone tries to shove theirs in my face. That seems to happen a lot more than it used to. No wonder my own mother calls me an antisocial loner. It's the only way I can keep my sanity.

One thing that does puzzle me: this is a Poser site, a Poser community right? All the suggestive ads on here are for DAZ products. That alone gets my goat. But I guess it pays the bills, so not much can be done there. And I guess with the plethora of people using DAZ products in Poser, it will stay that way. Except why all the G3 stuff when you can't use them in Poser?

Just my two cents. Flame me if you will. I really don't care. Oh and just to be perfectly clear: I AM NOT TRYING TO START ANOTHER P vs D FLAMING WAR. I am just curious, that's all...

I think this is a 3D site but not exclusively for one product. Why all the G3 stuff? It does pay the bills but I'm thinking some vendors just wish to work on the latest offerings. Shucks I would buy Lilflames and outoftouch's latest offerings on sight if they were for Poser (specifically for V4). Still it's almost 2016 and Christmas is right around the corner. Smith Micro seems to be dedicated to the product so hopefully they'll work with DAZ so that all can profit. They've done it before, maybe they'll do it again.

Renderosity tried to make it for any 3D app's Max ,zBrush etc etc but There's more Poser users here then any other App.

I wouldn't exspect DAZ characters to support Poser any more. The tech is moving father n farther apart.

Poserdome is having a very very difficult time letting go of DAZ ,nothing last forever.

HiveWire would have had it made ,if they could have taken the name DAZ with them.

Modo didn't take the name Lightwave with them but there name Modo is as big as Lightwaves now.

I think what surprises me the most and least to put it weirdly, is that people gets so worked up about it. I do agree that purely pornographic content doesn't belong on a site like this. But suggestive content just doesn't make me angry, i think i would be more amazed if there was nothing of the sort. What i mean by that is that no matter where you look today, you have music videos with people wearing hardly anything and sometimes nothing at all, like that girl on the ball, Miley Cirus or something. You have TV shows where the whole concept is to view drunk and half naked people, with the hope from the producers side that with all the alcohol etc. these people will loose control so they can make some money on cheap entertainment. The whole society (Depending on where you are from ofc) is filled with these things. So why anyone would think or assume that there were nothing like that on a website where people can post art and stuff they have made, is surprising to me. At least to me if people aim at expression themselves through there work and it involves suggestive content, it shouldn't just be written off as some garbage, it can be very elegant made, and its still a hell lot better than any reality TV or music videos which only purpose is to make money and in the process "sell" the people as sexual objects which remove some of craftsmanship that these artists after all have. Madonna already "shocked" the world back in the days, now its just normal :D

I am at the point where I am going to install an ad blocker. Not because the content offends me, but because I will never click on them to buy anything. If I want it, I am fairly capable now of creating it. I won't spend money on what they are selling so I might as well not see it. AND it keeps me from getting barked at by some mother who isn't controlling her child in a public place and sees what she thinks is porn and yells at me. Because the next time, I might yell back. And then I'd be in trouble that I don't need.

Rokket I still don't know what add momma saw but if it's from here ,couldn't have been that bad.

I can tell she really pissed you off but I've built my time behind bars.Just nothing worth building on.

Scroll back a page or two, I posted it when the incident happened. Yeah, she made me mad. But luckily for me, the most that would happen if I yelled at her is I would get barred from the base for a month. I am not the kind of man who would ever lay hands on a woman, even if she hit me first, so no worries there.

Stupid people aren't always stupid, sometimes they're just ignorant. Either of these sorts of people are really not "at fault" for what they do. In one case, they can't do any better and, in the other, they don't know how.

Don't get upset by these people. There's only one sort that should get you a bit hot-under-the-collar and that's the "willfully ignorant." Those people are smart enough to know better, but don't care to do so. :D

I'm all confused. your not a Soldier any more so now your a civilian. Civilians can go on to a Army base ?

I am retired Navy and I work for the federal government now as a civil service mariner. I was not on an Army base, I was on a Navy base in Japan.

Porn in public is going away slowly but surely. Years ago you could walk into a Family Mart (the Japanese version of 7/11) and there were magazine racks full of it. Now, the magazines are still there, but they are wrapped in plastic and you have to buy them to read them. And there are fewer of them. You can still see the Hentai and Manga books everywhere. A lot of them have sex scenes in them, but the genitals are censored.

I would think the uncensored web is killing Japanese censored businesses. I wouldn't buy stock in them.

In business the majority rules.no one likes censorship.

One cool thing about Renderosity is there not censorship ridiculous.

I wouldn't try to put one of the drawings I have in my gallery at another Poser related site (that begins with an R and doesn't end with -otica) in my gallery here. Admittedly, it's kinda abstract but I don't think it would pass here if someone took the time to look closely.

Edit_ in regard to said image, I thought for sure it would be removed from that gallery but all the gallery mod said was something like "pretty wild, but well executed."

I'm not a prude, but I have been actually SHOCKED AND EMBARESSED to see PRODUCTS in the Rendo Marketplace that make me blush and/or want to throw up... I just can't believe they ALLOW that sort of content...I thought it was only at renderotica ! They NEVER would have allowed that before!!

and yes, the gallery experience is dying...I finally tried to find a way to comment on my art's commenters...and had to click so much, and WAIT so long for pages to load, I got VERY frustrated and ran to yell at Rendo (again) in the community forum.... I really am being PUSHED by this site to leave... and it's so darn sad when this place USED TO feel like home!!!

I know what you mean. My boss has a little terrier that he has pictures of all over his office. In one of those pictures, there is a chew toy just like you mentioned sitting near the dog. When I saw it, I asked him jokingly if the dog had gotten into his wife's secret stash. He said he told her it looked like one of those things when she brought it home for the dog.

with all due respect to the previous conversation(s) going on here............... I just checked back into this community after a long leave of absence, and while I love some of the old members and the old names that I recognize..... this site now sucks. I will delete my whole account and history here, even though the nostalgic side of me hurts for it, I have to do it.

Why?

I frequently feel the desire to remove all traces of myself from Renderosity. But my enormous list of product downloads keeps me firmly fastened to the site. That and a handful of vendors who don't sell anywhere else. Above all, I think of this site as a marketplace, and I mainly come here for the vendors. Seems wrong to punish them for my own feelings about the site design, forum behaviors, or kitchy and/or hyper sexualized galleries.

To be sure, the more time I spend on the site -- in forums, galleries, freestuff, etc -- the more money I spend on content. So it hasn't been much lately at all. But not gonna abandon the content creators whose stuff I truly adore over things that no longer affect me the moment I close my browser.

As for "Where did it all go wrong?" LOL. Ah, it's the market. As soon as you permit anything like a wide open market for anything, all the high brow pretensions are going to disappear. Checked out the state of ebook publishing lately? Now that editors no longer control the flow of words, anything and everything is being offered, almost all of it utter and complete trash. In comparison, this site is a glowing example of restraint and quality, most likely because the store does not simply allow anyone to sell anything without any quality control. In other words, I don't think it's gone wrong at all. The market is functioning exactly as it's supposed to. :)

Maybe i have a different view on this or maybe looking the wrong places. But since i haven't spend a lot of time in the galleries i decided to take a look and see what all this "sexual" disturbance was all about. Besides there being some very well made stuff there, i don't see what all the fuzz is about, There are images everywhere from landscapes to toilets and rockets etc. But only very few images that seem to contain "sexual" content to me. Am i looking the wrong place, because i don't see it. Can someone link some stuff that they consider over the edge or tell me if im looking the wrong place?

I think Paul is referring to the prevalence of scank wear and anatomical focus of alot of the imagery occuring on the site, in particular the marketplace. I'll go out on a limb and say that perhaps it just got tiresome and coupled with a sense of artistic disillusionment brought about by various factors (that we all face) maybe... the reason for OP's commentary. Who can say? Probably more complex than spoken face value.
