Beats working with only 1 figure, when everyone looks like they are related to each other.
This theory of yours has been disproved so many times, yet you continue to believe it. Similarities or "relation" is strictly based on what content you are comparing available for that figure.
I like to have a variety too. There have been a lot of 3rd party male figures that I thought were worthwhile. Rikishi is one of my favorties as he has 3 character sets and a lot of clothing compared to some others. I was disappointed that Sixus Media never did anything with Behemoth 2--it was a better figure than the original Behemoth (which had more vendor support and a lot of different clothing and textures)--but the 2nd version was not only muscular but handsome. Absolute realism isn't needed for me as long as I can use them to make interesting pictures. Sometimes you get more interesting results with more stylized people. There are some that straddle the line between realistic and cartoon characters. I'm not a big Wardrobe Wizard user, so even when there has been support for a new figure I've not used it much because I don't have the patience to go through the conversion process. Does is the new fitting room easier to deal with? I never had the patience for dynamic cloth either or dynamic hair for that matter.
Not sure about WW support. Dusk is free but when I site mailed Phil some months ago about a WW add on for Dusk, I was told it depended upon popularity. How that is determined is beyond me. The Steve base is low enough in price that I might take the shot. I guess it depends upon how much support the figure garners. I'm not too sure about the clothing pack. It lacks a shirt which can be somewhat limiting. So is the lack of hair.
You can adapt hair props to work with Steve or grow dynamic hair on him (which I almost never use). Here's an example with a mustache and Daz's original flattop. I wish the included shorts were more like bikini briefs instead of boxers and had come with some extra maps. I will probably use Jepe's body hair brushes to get some body hair on this dude in future renders unless someone comes up some new maps for him with hair options. The facial hair option on the maps looks better for distant rather than close ups. Steve I think would easily work well for cartoon type characters.

I haven't checked for that part, but I can certainly look, but I doubt it. It's not a typical part of the anatomy to find on any figure, I'm not even sure if Apollo 2nd generation has it. I think the unreleased 3rd Generation of him was supposed to. People on the Renderotica forums probably would have more advice on that.
Nope, no anus and no polys to morph one. His penis comes with 4-segment bending and basic morphs. geometry is basic rounding (16 facets or so in girth) so you may need to use displacement for detail. Scrotum is densly meshed. Typically OK for general nude renders but would think you need something more advanced when you are in for hardcore work.
I am not using males normally so would not have paid USD 20.0. I bought him on the intro day for USD 5.- and happy with that purchase. He has good legs bending forward but bending aft is poor. Can be adjusted by moving the hip joint though. Otherwise until now found neither major issues nor aspects that would make him a must-have.
Good clothing adaptation. I've not used dynamic cloth, but if you do that do you have to pose your figure first? I hope they come out with at least an everyday wear clothing back for Steve with shorts and a t-shirt and some sneakers or something. I'll have to watch Runtime DNA to see if new stuff become available. Hopefully if the figure sells well there will be more incentive to make at least a few more basic outfits for him. I don't do a lot of fantasy pictures, so I'd be happy with just a better selection of everyday wear.
If you want to use dynamic cloth, it is actually an animation. Start at frame 1 with the clothing and figure in the zeroed out pose, then you can pose the figure at any frame after that. I usually shoot for the final pose at frame 15, and then base the end on what I am doing with the cloth. If I want the cloth to continue to drape, I may have the simulation end at frame 45, especially if I am running a sim on a cape. But clothing like the render above can be done within the default 30 frames. There are a lot of settings you can mess with in the cloth room. You just have to dive in try it out. It's not as daunting as some would have you believe. If I can do it, anyone can.

He does not bend very well in Marvelous Designer but passable enough to serve as avatar. I have to travel this week and next so sorry no time now to make clothing items for him. May do this later though. In the mean while of course anyone can test the waters and use the 2 weeks free trial they offer to make him some essentials.

Anyone else got ef-Steve, I think he has potential. I posted this picture on another thread but wanted to share it here too. He has three ethnicity maps and morph sets and a variety of body types. Apparently there are some issues with the vertices (or something) on included genitalia in Poser 10 and Poser 2014 (hopefully there will be an update), but I didn't notice any obvious mesh problems when I loaded them up in Poser 10.
I hope that there will be more clothing sets (only one so far) or that Phil C will come up with a Wardrobe Wizard module for him. He reminds me of Apollo a bit, but is more traditionally rigged I think. He is only Poser compatible and apparently doesn't work in Daz Studio.
