Subject: I hate this site

JohnDelaquiox ( ) posted Wed, 07 October 2015 at 3:30 PM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 10:07 AM

I am not sure if this is correct place to post this or even why I am posting it. I hate this site. Everything has turned to complete and utter crap. The gallery is no longer worth visiting much less posting anything in. Everything is slow and overly cumbersome to navigate, Instead of fixing something no one, not even the vendors like, they make excuses as to why its crap. My last purchase was two months ago. Sure there are things I would like to buy. But I am not going to. I no longer want to support this site or the vendors who exclusively sell on Renderosity. Even if the site were to be completely restructured, it will be too completely restructure the site, it will be too little too late. The damage has been done.

I'm sorry. I've tried to like this new site, but I just can't. The Settings page is supposed to have a place to change my email, but I'm not seeing it. The site overall has been "cleaned up," which is fine, but some of the artists create such beautiful scenes containing nudity. Where did they go? Really, scrolling down through thousands of artists instead of being able to at least search by the first letter of the name. Yes, I'm just a lookie-loo and I don't expect much of a change from Renderosity now that they've probably spent a lot of money on this site, but it's sad so many people are pissed off and nothing will likely get done. Goodbye.

hopeandlove ( ) posted Thu, 08 October 2015 at 9:06 PM

Hi @HRHFT-- Please go to "settings" and you'll see the following screen:

Then, go to your name and click "Account settings."

You'll see that you CAN change your e-mail.

We still have plenty of artists who create beautiful scenes. Thanks so much!

Why do I have a feeling that Laurie is right, and the whole point of this redesign is to get rid of all us 'oldschoolers' and instead bring in the new, hip, facebook-generation who doesn't complain so much and just accept everything because they don't know any better 😑

i wish this site could make money as a content vendor, instead of ad traffic, cuz ads need traffic, without traffic there be no one buying ads then another content site goes dark

personally, i can live with the few remaining ads left after the adblocker does its work.

what i'm really struggling with these days is just how much still lies unanswered, unfixed, and unaddressed on this site. i'm not sure i feel exactly as Laurie stated regarding the motivation of Rendo trying to get rid of its longer term members; but i do feel that in her post that got deleted, she was expressing part of how i'm left to feel these days, where longer term members do recall a site that maybe did not bend over backwards to please the majority on even half of everything, but certainly seemed far more open to suggestions & ideas for improvement. and a time where a member actually felt valued, if even just for their credit card...

i've watched post after post, and thread after thread, that have members calling out their concerns and actually some posts that tossed out ideas for how to fix things and/or ways to balance/compromise what Rendo wants vs. member[s] desires. much has gone either ignored or have received some sort of placating response, with not a whole lot of follow through after the fact.

i've seen the same issues pop up in a varied number of threads [issue dependent], and still the issues remain. prime example would be the simple request that on upload to the galleries, that there be some non-fixed default setting that stops people from accidentally dumping stuff into the 2D/Abstract gallery. seriously, how hard is this to fix? how long before it gets brought up yet again in yet another new thread about the subject? or how about the Advanced Search request? it's not like it's something that never existed before or so far out there as to be a crazy request. or how about the simply ability to see a friend's Wishlist? or the request to have the options that photographers used to have whenst uploading an image that gave tech info that have now gone by the wayside? or the option to see that a SiteMail was actually received/read? all these things existed before the change over, too, that's the worst part it. seriously, i could go on, and here we are almost 2 months in...

how hard is it to get some kind of communication going betwixt staff & programmer[s], programmer[s] back to staff, and staff back to members? and how hard is it for staff admins to actually communicate amongst themselves so that you're not getting conflicting answers simply because you posted your topic in one forum as opposed to another?

are all the 'fixes' essentially done now, and things are what they are?

so much has been stripped away in this change-over: some communication functionality is gone, any real sense of customising our own little space on this site is gone [and please don't point me to the Bio page - i'm fully aware & that's not quite what i mean], it's harder & more arduous a task to navigate this place, it's work to shop here [and really, the MP search engine leaves a LOT to be desired unless you know precisely what you're looking for & how it is spelt]. there are fewer folks in the forums now, which means fewer opportunities to learn through interaction [and maybe even making a new friend along the way], there are fewer artists posting, so the galleries are not terribly inspiring any longer... gods, again, i could go on and on...

and unlike Laurie, i've stuck it out these past two months, i've been coming here, i've learned the ins/outs of the place [and here i will say that i really prefer how things are now when looking at an individual's gallery]. but even though i've pretty much adapted, am able now to take a step back & look at things from a more objective place [though i suppose this post may seem like that might not be the case.. shrug], i do have to agree with John's initial sentiment...

i hate this site... [lil resigned sigh]

hopeandlove ( ) posted Mon, 12 October 2015 at 9:43 PM

Hey @Giana-- As I've told members time and time again, we're listening and have made a bunch of changes:

  • Per members request, we changed the gallery image sizes
  • We've added paging to the section/genre galleries
  • Allow members to either see nudity or not see it
  • Fixed editing an album cover

Therefore, please don't say we're not listening. I've made bug/issues thread before and there were only a few comments. I know we have yet to fix the issue above, but we're working on them. When we say we're working on the issues and I tell you I've made a note of them, it's the truth. The programmers have a significant amount on their plates and they're getting to these issues as soon as they can.

Thank you.

@Hope:

Most of those 'changes' you mention are things that were present before the redesign, and should never have been changed in the first place! Sorry, but 'token' changes like that doesn't count!

"please don't say we're not listening"

Please give us the impression you are.

KimberlyC ( ) posted Tue, 13 October 2015 at 9:45 AM

Guys, we are doing what WE can. Also, please keep in mind some things may not change. I'm sorry, that is the way it is. As the site is set up now, some things simply may not come back like they use to be. But we are trying to make those things happen in different ways. Basically, there is no reason to be hateful towards staff.

Kimberly, I think most people here understand that the staff is only doing what they are told. But the way you say things make a huge difference. Some of the staff here have adopted a downright condescending tone to us, and that is ticking off a lot of people. Stop treating us like children, and you might get less flack ;)

Example: "We'll no longer have the features that you asked for, but instead we have implemented these new and exciting features, and we're sure you're all gonna love it!! Yay! Flowers! And if you don't like it right away, give it some time and we're sure our enthusiasm will infect you as well, because this is so AWESOME!! Hugs! Kisses! And you know, all the other cool sites do it, so we have to as well!"

Reality check: Most of us are adults, not teens, and being talked to like that, is extremely off-putting, for me at least, but judging by what other people say, I'm not alone in feeling this way.

It would also help if you in addition to giving us objective replies, also included some reasons. Whenever it has been decided that a sorely missed feature will not be re-implemented, it would be very helpful to many of us, I think, if we got some reasons as to why not. Instead of just saying "This will not happen", please explain why not. Especially for features that used to be part of the site, which makes it hard to understand why it can't be put back again.

Also, you staff need to understand that we complain because we care about Rendo, If we didn't, we would just silently leave and let you fail. But because we care, and because we see Rendo heading towards disaster, we try to stop it. We try to tell you what you are doing wrong and what you can do to make it better. After all, we are your customers and we pay your bills, and we know what we like! If we don't get what we want here, we go elsewhere, simple as that.

And for the love of God, STOP TRYING TO BE FACEBOOK!

DreaminGirl nailed it there.

sorry, but hope sets my teeth on edge. I'm 44. I am legally considered to be an adult. please treat me as one. talking down to me is not going to work. and yes. she does talk down to us.

KimberlyC ( ) posted Tue, 13 October 2015 at 1:16 PM

DreaminGirl:

At this current time I can not give a reason why certain things will not be placed back, because I'm not quite sure. But I do know that the site was re-designed. Which means that some of the older (out dated) options are not compatible with the new coding. That I do know for sure. So some of the options that you are use to, just simply would not work correctly on this new design. Would you rather have an option that is new and different or have us add something that simply wouldn't work?

Regarding your statement about caring for the site, we(staff) all feel the same way as well as we care for the site or wouldn't be here.

Regarding Hope, I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm quite sure that is not her intention at all.

Well if you don't count a few PMs this must be about the fifth time I have posted anything this month.

I have to say I am now in the group that doesn't really care, I did but I am well past that but I am not breaking my silence to rake over old coals.

For what it is worth I honestly believe both Kimberley and Hope are members of the staff that care and it must be really hard for them the take all the flack when the are trying so hard to put things right. Sadly I think their sphere of influence is rather small but not only is that not their fault they have my respect for still being in the fight. They certainly have more staying power than I have.

I can understand all the upset, anger and disappointment but it might help if keep in mind who the real bandits are and they are not the ones who bother spending any time in any of the forums.

Each time I think this is going to be my last post to a thread, so here it is....................until the next time.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

@ Kimberly, thank you for your response - much appreciated.

@ Hope - for the record, i never said that no one was listening -- what i said is that there are many things that have been left unanswered, unattended and unaddressed, which is different than not listening.

@ staff in general - DG stated my perspective perfectly. we are all aware that so many things are most likely out of your hands/ not within your control. i, for one, can/do even empathise in varying degrees to your position. however, you are the 'first line of defense' so to speak, and the only ones here with whom we can interact with to get answers & to understand what is, or what is not, happening. giving us the sense that follow-through is occurring goes a long way, and again, back to my post, the follow-through, we realise, does not rest solely upon your shoulders, but what are we to do? how do we get updates if no one is talking to one another [whether it is staff to staff, or staff to programmer[s], etc.] who can then talk to us, your member-base?

sidenote: on the subject of follow-through --

i just saw that you, Hope, went back to my post regarding having the no comments option reinstated in the galleries. you said you were still looking into this for me, and you did that relatively unprompted which i am so incredibly grateful for. i can only speak for myself, though i suspect i'm not alone in this, but i get tired of feeling like a beggar at times just to gets answers, so again, it was actually pretty nifty to not feel that way.. thank you.
