There is no alpha channel in the file but I will check if the power ever goes back on here (grumble, grumble stupid power company...1 lousy cm of ice/snow and pow! power dies.) IRay has worked brilliantly for me in Daz; certainly much better, and with far superior fabric shaders than Reality. This is the only problem I've encountered and it's hardly a show stopper.
Ah maybe it needs an Alpha channel but that might not be right as jpegs don't have them. Bmp's do as does some png's maybe turn off the alpha in the surface's so I-ray won't look for one. I still might be wrong!! i just remember seeing something like this years ago fracking fog textures did something like this to me and it was the alpha at fault. regular windows paint can see and save alphas i would not think a background or dome would need a alpha...Glass etc effects do some times
If you are using a Finite Sphere there is a setting "Visualize Finite Dome", try setting that to off. I had this problem before, but couldn't remember what I did to fix it, so just spent the last 45 minutes trying to recreate it. Turning on that setting was the only time I was able to recreate that effect so far.
Edited to add, the attached photo is the Finite Sphere set to a radius of 1.0, you can see how it gives the rainbow effect. I think it's so you have more control over the size of elements in the HDRI.
Decided to add a couple more shots. The first is the same sphere set to 100 and the second is the sphere set to 3, with the default being 100. I could be entirely wrong, since I'm just starting out with IRAY myself, but I think it's to help identify elements in the background as you resize your sphere.
Aha! I tried fiddling with the settings you mentioned and found that 'visualize Finite dome' was indeed the culprit. It's a shame that there's no guide or manual for IRay but then, Daz never has given folks any information on their software. That's why I don't support them. Thanks again for the info.
The comment about Daz was absolutely necessary. Reality comes with a comprehensive manual. Poser (and it's various renderers) comes with a complete manual. IRay in 3DSMax comes with a manual, VRay is insanely well documented. Cycles (in Blender) has a million tutorial videos. All Adobe apps come with access to a massive online manual and guide. Daz needs top have their failings repeatedly rubbed in their face in the hope that they do something about it. Constantly being reminded about their lack of any meaningful instructional material will hopefully persuade them to provide some, and let new folks know what they're getting into. It shouldn't be up to users to write their documentation.

FYI, it is documented.
Wow! I beg and plead in the Daz forums for a manual/FAQ/guide or a note tied to a brick and thrown through my window and get nothing. How the stink did you find this? Are they keeping it a secret? I gave up checking the Daz wiki as there where no updates other than listing the headers.
I shouldn't have gotten too excited. That was just about the only complete page and there's been no updates since I last checked it a few months ago. At least the shader system has numerous tutorials floating around. I've been able to make some decent fabrics for my own use. Thanks again for the link.

I use any of the IBL's from HDRlabs.com and they render with a pronounced green on the right fading to blue on the left. It doesn't matter how the dome is rotated or which file I use (large jpg, or either HDR) I get the same result although the jpg is much more washed out (as expected). There's nothing in the file itself that would do this and I've carefully checked selections in the render pallet. Any suggestions?
