I think most of the stuff is still there, it's just the dumb way they have it set up now - not intuitive AT ALL. Having said that, I have no idea how to get it to keep feeding pages until you get thru all the freebies since they changed it. And unfortunately I have to agree with your last sentence. The site is in sorry shape. Hoping Kristi can get it (and the programmers) whipped into shape ;).

Not defending the setup lol ... just saying that one can check the "contributors" page, and then click on the "freestuff" link that's with each artist.
I don't know all of the contributor's names by heart. I probably could find Anthony Appleyard's ancient diver characters or something like that, but I would not look for any specific artist, (I think I only know about 2% by name) but rather for things that come in handy, which may or may not be very unexpected things I never knew I was looking for; stumbling upon unexpected treasures. In this case, I would look for freebies exclusive for Poser 8 to 11, published between 2010 and 2016, as I never picked those up, but I don't believe this site has a search engine qualified for something like that. And currently, browsing back through freebie history comes at a full stop in January 2016; the site currently no longer allows digging further back than that using the 'What's New" setting.

You don't need to know their names, "all" contributors page just grows longer and longer the more you scroll down it. As artists tend to specialize one can certainly [eventually] find the ones they favour and bookmark those free areas.

That's thousands of names with only one in about twenty ringing any bell at all, and without any clue about the nature of their offerings. This 'eventually' sounds like 'somewhere between now and 2027...'
Going through a large amount of pages covering a period that I am interested in is a lot of work as well, but in the end I would have been certain to have covered everything I missed out on; I think that's way more efficient than randomly klicking every contributor's name
Was any reason at all ever given for the changes made to the freebie section? Why fix something that wasn't broke at all, and was way better than what we are left with? Is there any valid reason not to change it back to the way it was?
Lately I've been contemplating that all recent major changes by the major Poser/DS sites (DAZ3D, Rendo, partly RDNA) mostly are consumer/community-unfriendly and are primarily focused on maximum profit, on minimum effort, and on monopolising the business, and taking a lot of fun out of the community. In the early 2000s, the community was a lot more primitive, but at the same time much more diverse, and a lot more fun with dozens of smaller sites, run by idealistic passionate individualists, that have mostly disappeared. What we are left with is mostly the battle for extremely expensive photo-realism - I mostly bailed out of that, but now find the rest of the community waning.
Over the past months I've been growing more and more annoyed with all the changes everywhere, and that's something new to me.....
Hello all -
I am not sure why it was set up this way as I was not in this position then or involved with the Community changes at all.
I am not happy with this new set up and not too sure it "has" to be this way.
I will ask the new programmer if there is a way to page ALL products or at the very least be able to search archives as in the forums and UVDan stated.
I will come back in once I talk to him and update you all.
Thank you all,
Kristi

So after talking to the programmer, I found that the reason it was changed was because it now shows products that are 90 days and newer.
They did this because the old programmer and old Community Manager said anything older than 90 days is not new.
If you search by "departments" it goes through all products that were uploaded in that department however you cannot search through all products by going through the "what's new" any longer.
I thought of having an "oldie but goodie" section for the products that are 91 days and older...would this be a good solution?

Just All freebies sorted by entry date, newest to oldest would suffice, as far as I'm concerned... As long as they are all in one single file, and not scattered all over the place, only accessible with precise search criteria. I do not see any sense in making entries older than 90 day almost impossible to find.....
They would be right under the "what's new" section. The "what's new" has to stay the way it is and anything older than 90 days is not really "new" which is why it only has 7 pages.
Once it was explained to me, I understood which is why I thought having an "oldie but goodie" section or something along those lines would be a good solution.

As long as I can search them by entry date, it is OK by me. Anything like _What's Trending _or Most Wanted or Most Popular is useless to me, I never use criteria like that, since I never made my taste dependent on what others like. The _Oldies But Goodies _section ideally should start at page 8 (or day 91) of what was originally the entire collection by entry date, and go on by chronological order. Anything else would be rather useless to me. The only welcome addition for me would be a possibility to go directly to a certain entry date (say, august 15 2006) and start browsing from that point on. But searching by entry date throughout the entire collection is what is essential to me.

AGREE! I'm almost daily (now that I've resurfaced) being asked where to find my older stuff. You CAN find them by browsing my freebies here, but as said earlier, it requires the memory of exactly WHO made this-and-that.
I have also been away for a couple of years, and while new freebies are all well and good, I'm certain I have missed several gems in my absence. I can also see some (to me) new names even in the Top 50 of Freebie contributors - those people were some I would never even consider searching for, as I don't know them.
This new setup is both clunky and silly IMO. PLEASE fix it.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

In days not so very olden, the Freestuff sections went all the way back to yesteryear, with access to all previous freebies, over more than a decade and a half. Now it seems to stop at page seven, somewhere around january this year. Is this a glitch, or part of a new policy? I recently upgraded from Poser 7 to Poser 11, meaning there may be a lot of Freebies i skipped between 2009 and 2016 that may be of interest to me now, but all of that stuff seems to be erased now. I visited the Renderosity website since the early 2000s, and it used to be one of my favorite sites, but find it rapidly deteriorating lately; not only the Freestuff section, but the Forum as well.....
