It's been a long time since I used P4/PPP. I don't recall if the taper and scale tools were a combined tool or if they were separate tools back then. I do know that P5 and up has the scale tool and taper tool as two separate tools in the tool pane. They allow you to either taper or scale a selected figure, body part or prop along the camera's X or Y axis. There should be no reason the tools don't work in 2012. One, do you have the correct tool selected in the tool pane? Two, do you have a selected figure, prop or body part? Three, are you certain you are tapering or scaling along either the X or Y axis of the camera you are using?

I can't answer the question whether the will work or not. But I do remember the taper tool and used it often!

A scattered variety of objects still use it.

If you need a taper dial on an actor which doesn't have one, it can be inserted into a cr2 or pz3, using a cr2 editor. Example follows:

taperY taper { name taper initValue 0 hidden 0 enabled 1 forceLimits 0 min -100000 max 100000 trackingScale 0.04 keys { static 0 k 0 0 } interpStyleLocked 0 }

Add the above block to the Channels section of the actor to which you wish to add the dial. The "taperY" listing can be edited to "taperX" or "taperZ" according to need.

Edit: I don't know why the hell I expected Rosity to permit me to post a section from a cr2. Of course it won't do that. Rosity never does anything, anymore. Feh.

Thanks Cage!

I love cr2 hacks. Sometimes it's the only way to go. 😯

Luved that old P5 secrets book. It showed dynamic cloth shrink wrapping 😀

Cage, use the "Preformatted Text </>" button, or insert three dots on top and below the code.

Okay, that helps. Thanks, PikesPit. Rosity keeps changing its text-formatting, and I had no idea what that button was for. Never would have guessed. But it is useful, a very good thing to have.

My apologies to Renderosity. Cage didn't understand these new-fangled ways of doing things and he jumped straight to wanting the Good Old Days back.
