Subject: Lighting setup examples?

Cage ( ) posted Wed, 22 March 2017 at 5:11 PM ยท edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 3:01 AM

Are there any (fairly current and free) samples of state-of-the-art "realistic" lighting setups for P10 or P11? I'd like to test my frequent use shaders against some "correct" light sets, but all I have are older examples or my own sets, all of which are much brighter than lights are "supposed" to be.

Which is to say, I suck badly at lighting and my shaders are miscalibrated, as a result. I would like to improve, but I can't find any examples to examine. Does anyone know of any?

Not free and over at DAZ but Jepe's effects has a lightning feature. You may find a feature from the RDNA people that IS free that is a lightning effect there as well. Those are the only ones I am aware of.

Thanks, Boni. Hmm. I thought RDNA closed down completely? Are they still active somehow?

Thanks, ghostship2. That looks like it should be what I need. I'll check it out and see just how bad my shaders really are. I overlight things like crazy, man oh man.

I also have a PBR shader you might want to check out.

Interesting. Is that Superfly-specific, or Firefly-compatible? I'm not using Poser 11 for anything, because it breaks my figures. So I'm not a Superfly user.

Ya know Jura, I always marvel at how you get such nice even overall lighting with just 2 infinite lights. I'm curious, where in the scene do you place them?

Thank you muchly Jura, I've downloaded it, and will check it out tomorrow.

As far as HDRi's, I've downloaded a dozen or so from the sIBL Archive, and in fact used one of them for the Strolling The Beach render I did recently. Of course, they're mostly outdoor Images, which I suspect is not the type of HDRi you used for the type of renders you posted above.

Thanks very much.

Now that I have more memory and a Poser SR fixed my Superfly problems, I'm looking check out some of the P11 goodies myself.
