I hope someone can help me with this, because I can't seem to make it work. :-( I'm on a Mac and I've created some pose files that I've added a thumbnail to, now this works wonderfully on my computer and the thumbs show up as they should. My problem is this: I've converted the files for PC and although there are .rsr files that were created in the process, the thumbnails do not show up at all... The files work great, but they have the ugly guy as a thumbnail. :-( If looking at the files can be of some help, you can get them through the attached link. I really hope someone knows how to help me with this. Thanks in advance! Caroline

Err... thanks for your help, but your suggestions will work only for PC and I don't have acces to one. (well, yeah I do, but I do not have Poser on it so I can't create thumbs with it, nor can I check if my .rsr files are ok or not...) I'll try to find another way - I do appreciate that you took some time to help me, it's very kind! :o) Cheers! Caroline

I hope she/he won't mind me reposting this. Pasted this into my notes file, so I'm not sure where I got it from. Sounds like something that will take thought the first time through, but a snap when routine: by Daio on 10/11/01 09:51 Make sure to use BBeditLite (which is a free program that can be found at most MAC freeware sites like www.macdownload.com) to create your MAT files and then run them through MacConverter - that finally was what I found worked for me. Any other word processer seemed to screw up the formatting so that they didn't work properly. Open up the MAT file that came with the outfits in BBEDIT lite and change the texture path to point to your textures. Make sure to start with the runtime folder. The path should look something like this - :Runtime:Textures:Adventurers:yourtexture.jpg Save it under a new name and run it through MacConverter. It should work but will still have the original thumb. If you want a new thumb for it you can either start with the .cr2 and edit down to MAT file (there are good tuts to on how to do that) or use my quick and dirty cheat. Create a .cr2 file (or any poser library file except a pose file) with the thumb you want on the MAT file. Run that file and your MAT file through MacConvert using the Export to PC function and make sure to check the "Delete Macintosh resource fork" box. You'll end up with 4 files a .cr2 and a .rsr and a .pz2 and an .rsr. Delete the .cr2 and the .rsr file from the MAT pose file. Change the name of the .rsr file from the .cr2 file to match the MAT file. Run the .rsr and the MAT file back through MacConverter to create a Mac MAT pose file with the correct thumb.

thanks! :o) I finally figured what it was that I was doing wrong and now I know I'm a moron. ;-)) Everything I did was fine, event the conversion, except for one little tid-bit: convert the image to pict before pasting in as a resource inside the .cr2 file. I know this sounds looney, but the original image worked fin on my Mac and never worked on a PC until I did this. I realized last night that PhotoShop can create a PICT Resource file, so this is what I did and then got my friend ResEdit out to get the resource from that file into the .cr2 replacing the original thumbnail. Works wonderfully well! :o) ...if this sounds like chinese, I'm sorry! I think I just might write a tutorial on this... Anyone interested? ;-) Cheers! Caroline

Piece 'o cake. Render. Save as a MacIntosh .PICT image file (be sure image resolution is square, i.e., 300X300). Open Image in Photoshop and INVERT the alpha channel. (Actually, any paint program that allows you to manipulate the alpha channel will work.) Click the (first) color channel. In the paint program, resize the image to 91X91 pixels and save. Download and install "RSR Converter." Run RSR Converter. Open the PICT file in the first box and specify the .rsr file (and path) in the second box (.rsr file should have exact same name as the .cr2). Save. Warning: the Mac Poser version CANNOT "read" the .rsr file, but it's there. Bundle the .rsr with the .cr2 file and it's now PC ready. I do it alla time.
