Subject: Hair Help Take 2

Ok, so this may be a weird one. I'm using the old GraceLionHair on a character fro my comic. I want to make the hair fuller, so I've got two of the same wigs on her. I can export both of those out and create a single, full wig no problem. Is there any way to give it the morphs of both wigs? I can export out the shapes, but it distorts the models world position when the morphs are dialed in. Thoughts?

Once you combine both wigs, they are no longer of the same polygon count so the morphs will not be recognized by the model. So exporting as one is not a solution to your problem!

I would suggest you parent one wig on the other and use them together but separately. The hair will be fuller plus the morphs of both will give you further flexibility and movement than the original one hair wig! :)

Yeah, thats what I figured I'd have to do. It works and it looks good, so thats the important part lol

Actually.... It turns out I CAN transfer the morphs. I have to export the morphs dialed into each wig as one combined object, and then I'm able to put that object as a morph dial into the new combined wig object. It's a bit tedious, and I have to do some manual adjustments, but it's working!

Not sure if you've tried this but if you scale one wig to 101-103% then you also get a fuller look. A tip from Jim Burton back in the P4 days

you should check that you don't have GC of 1 on the transmaps for the hair as that always makes hair look whispy.

I do have Photoshop. I'm just gonna run with two of the same hair props parented to the head with 2 distinct shapes. It gets the job done rather nicely.

that's a really good idea. post the render when finished if you get time as I"d love to see how it turns out.

I'll try and do that when I get home. My first daughter was just born last Friday, so I've been a bit preoccupied.

Render as promised. And I only take minimal credit on the creation of a tiny human. The bulk of the work was done by my wife, and she did a hellva job,

Nice! You've done well. The hair looks good. I like it that you used nasolabial folds on your character's face. So many renders lack these and they are a natural thing that we all have. Love esther

Thanks! Tiny Human (Mazy) is only 10 days old, so it's mostly sleep, eat and poop lol. As for the nasolabial folds, the smile is actually a custom morph that includes them, since V4's normal smile is... not good. LOL

estherau ( ) posted Mon, 26 March 2018 at 11:04 PM

only one suggestion. She isn't smiling with her eyes, only her mouth. Love esther

What would you suggest to change that? The morph does close the eyes a bit as well

estherau ( ) posted Mon, 26 March 2018 at 11:09 PM

is there a way to make corner wrinkles to the eyes?
