One possibly explanation is your computer is set-up to handle English text only but the DSON script has encountered a non English character like "ë" in a name or some other content. UTF-8 is an updated version of ASCII.

Many thanks for your reply.I am sorry but I do not understand what you mean! Do I have to change settings on my computer or are you suggesting it is just the one character only with this import problem? Every time I open or import a Genesis 2 figure I am getting a similar popup.Any help appreciated. Cheers

I was thinking maybe one of the runtime directory names had a non English character in its name, I had this error a couple of months ago but can't recall the solutiion! If I remember will post.

Looking at reports from other users this can happen if a figure attempts to load morphs not installed. The suggestion is to look at the DSON log file. It might be worth checking the log file to see if it contains more information

On my machine the log file is located

C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\DsonPoser\log.txt

To find where your DSON install directory, select Scripts->DSON Support->Importer Preferences. The cache folder is display which will show the location of the DAZ 3D folder.

Once again many thanks for your replies.I have checked the log file and you are correct! It is trying to load morphs.When you say they are not installed does that mean in DAZ Studio or Poser? Cheers

Someone who understands how G2 morphs work would have a better idea. I seem to recall DSON expects morphs to be group together in the same runtime as the figure - could be wrong on that point.

I have all the figures and morphs in the same runtime and I am still having problems with importing Genesis 2 Female into Poser Pro 11!.I have logged the problem at DAZ.I will post here if I get a reply! Cheers

You could use D3D’s DSON Loader. It’s remarkable.

Thanks. It sort of works.It will bring a Genesis 2 Female figure in but it does not bring the textures with it and I am still getting a unicode error! I will see what DAZ has to say! Cheers

this week i had the same problem with importing genesis 3 male in poser 11 i have reinstalled Dson and the problem still there i have tried with other Poser version (poser pro 2014) and DSON works

Genesis 3 does not import to Poser without using @willdial’s free utility.

Per the thread above, you could try D3D's free DSON Loader. The other way to go is just stop screwing with DSON. Export the cr2 from DAZ and then convert it to Poser native format using Netherwork's Creator's Toybox (the file optimizer), available at Hivewire. The instructions explain clearly how to do that. I convert ALL my DSON cr2s to Poser native so I don'y have to suffer DSON lag and the practical limits on how many figures you can have in a scene at one time. I also export "DAZ only" products and do the same.
