Subject: Genesis 2 Poser Question

A while back some one found out how to get G2 into Poser without the Dson Exporter. It made it where Genesis 2 could be used better (and not crash the program). I loved it! However my question is did anyone find out how to get G2 in Poser with all of it's units working correctly? One major body part that had issue not showing up on G2 Female is her tongue. Did anyone find out how to get her in fully (without Dson)?

You may not have to... there are a couple of independent tongue figures (pretty much everywhere) that can either be grafted/added, or kitbashed in (parented to the head) and used that way. May be worth your while to seek out a similar solution?

The figure OBJ has a group called tongue, but the figure cr2 has a bone called tongueBase. This is why the tongue does not display in Poser. It exists but because the internal name does not match the group name Poser just ignores it. So you could either edit the group name so that it matches the cr2, or you can edit the cr2 so that it matches the obj. Either method should work. (almost seems like this was done on purpose, if I were into conspiracies and all that, but I'm not, so of course it wasn't).

I use Genesis 2 in Poser often and the tongue is present. Genesis 2 works fine with the DSON Importer or the CR2 Export option.

I do remember there was a morph compatibility issue with Poser 11. The min and max values where backwards and it cause the teeth and tongue to appear outside of the body. Is this the problem you are running into?

What settings did you use to convert the figure to cr2 before exporting from ds? Because when I did it via triax to normal then export, the tongue does not appear in poser.

My apologies. I just double checked. The CR2 Exporter does not export the tongue into Poser. I mainly use the DSON option. I must have forgotten about the tongue issue. Sorry.

To set up G2 without using DSON I use Netherworks' Creators' Toolbox. I use DSON initially to open Genesis 2 in Poser, which has the tongue, then save a new CR2 and run that through the File Optimizer included in the Toybox package - this modifies the CR2 to remove any calls to DSON and creates an obj file. You'll need to do this for each of the characters that have their own UV set so that each has it's own obj.

If you do use G2 figures divorced from DSON in this way, then you lose the DAZ subdivision, which means that HD morphs won't work - on the other hand, much of the fine detail you see in the promos for this generations is in the normal maps which aren't a problem to apply. Just remember to set the skinning method to Poser Unimesh so that you can apply Poser's subdivision at render-time.

Thanks so much for all of the info. Where do you get the Netherwork's Creator's Toolbox and is it a requirement to make the full proper conversion?

Here's the Creators' Toybox in this store: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/creators-toybox/116432/

I dare say there may be other ways to make a full conversion but this is the only one I've used - and it does have the virtue of being quite easy. As a rule, any clothing that I've been able to use via DSON has converted we enough as well.

Sadly, it won't work on Genesis 3 though - for some reason it breaks all the dependencies for the controlled morphs.
