Subject: did Poser 11.0 expire?

Richardphotos ( ) posted Wed, 24 June 2020 at 8:22 PM ยท edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 1:41 AM

when I tried to install again it refused my serial number. said I had reached the maximum uses . yes content paradise had it's demise with Renderosity's purchase of Poser 11.0. did Poser 11 have it's demise also?. at least Poser 11 recognized my runtimes, more than 11.3 does

Richardphotos ( ) posted Wed, 24 June 2020 at 9:52 PM

for many days I am not able to use Poser 11.3 for anything except La Femme/ L Homme. I miss using V4,no reason to purchase anything for V4 or M4

The old license server no longer exists, so you can't install that version of Poser any more.

There should be no difference between 11.0 and 11.3 when it comes to using your runtimes. You should be able to just add them. What happens if you try to do that?

You say you are able to run Poser 11.3, but are unable to use anything but LaFemme and L'Homme? There is no difference in how Poser 11.3 uses V4 or M4. You shouldn't need to run both 11.0 and 11.3.

Really? I am using Poser 11.3 now with Blender. So, if I reinstall from a hard drive malfunction (maybe in future), that will be it? No more installation? I do have a cloned back up Hard drive with poser 11 installed.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 24 June 2020 at 10:53 PM

You can reinstall Poser 11.2 or up, I believe.

The OP wants to install a pre-Bondware version. He can't, because the SM license server is no more. And if he had it already installed, it would no longer work, because Poser 11 phones home, and that number is now disconnected.

There should be no problem reinstalling 11.3.

some questions need to be asked. What OS? Where are your runtimes stored? My setup is on a PC with Poser 11.3 on the main drive (C) and the main factory runtime installed in the Poser folder where it always has been. I then have a second runtime called "OLD Runtime" on another HD. I keep all my purchased and made stuff on the old runtime.

I have Poser 11.3 on the C drive and main factory runtime on an external drive. Just because I like to keep a lot of free space on the C drive.

I have dozens of runtimes with old content, on an external drive. And I have to add them again, each time I update Poser. Even keeping your existing preferences doesn't keep your runtimes attached. At least it doesn't for me. Maybe this is the problem the OP is having?

Richard, add your old runtime to poser.

"Poser 11.3 for anything except La Femme/ L Homme"

Structure: I tried to show Poser 11.3 where the runtime was at and it said it is not a recognized runtime

I can use La Femme and L homme but poser does not see the files in downloads. like they are not there if it does see any files, and it said it is not a recognized runtime. I would have to try and get Poser 11.3 to repeat the exact wording

thanks for the replies

When Poser doesn't recognize a runtime, it's usually because the folder structure is wrong.

In the Add Runtime action, Poser allows you to point at the Runtime itself, or point at the folder directly above Runtime. If you try to select a folder that's two levels above a Runtime, it won't work.

This happens a lot with Daz products, which place a 'content' layer between the main named folder and the Poser Runtime. If you point at the main name, Poser doesn't recognize the 'content' layer.

Yes, this sounds like a file structure problem.

When you add a runtime, point to the folder containing the folder named Runtime. (I've had issues pointing directly to the runtime folder itself.)

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2020 at 6:22 PM

The current DAZ content files play havoc with Poser if you use 3rd party compression programs to install using default settings. Those files are meant to be installed with DIM, granted if you are familiar with the app, and understand how to navigate it. Otherwise, crack open the DAZ content file and examine its hierarchy before extracting.

Richardphotos ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2020 at 8:19 PM

I always install daz stuff to a fake runtime and then move the folders to their respective location

randym77 ( ) posted Thu, 25 June 2020 at 9:03 PM

What OS are you using? Where is the runtime (or runtimes) with M4 and V4 in it? Is this a runtime that worked well with Poser 11.0, or are you installing from scratch on a new computer? Can you post a screenshot of the file structure of the runtime Poser doesn't like?

There is no reason a runtime that worked with Poser 11.0 shouldn't work with 11.3.
