Subject: Anyone know why Millenium kids base set has gone from everywhere?

Royfitz ( ) posted Wed, 01 July 2020 at 10:03 AM · edited Sat, 28 December 2024 at 10:54 PM

I had this set long ago but swapped laptops/PC's and somehow didn't copy all my previous content. I've recovered a lot of it but not the Mil kids. Anyone able to help me in any way? Any pointers or suggestions where to look?

The only place they should have been is DAZ3D. If you bought them they should still be available in your Product Library.

No - they have even gone from my library. Other content is there though.

If you bought them way, way back, like before 2002, they wouldn't be in your product library because before then they didn't keep track of purchases. I bought Victoria and Michael 1 in 2001 and they're not in my library.

If you have the order number try opening a support ticket at Daz. Most old orders were transferred OK (I have my initial orders from 2001, as far as I can tell).

Millennium Kids, split into Pre-schoolers and Pre-teens, were 2007ish anyway:

Thanks you guys - found them at last.

BUT..... I can't get them to install. If I use Winzip, everything gets unpacked into a 'content' folder within Poser, not the proper locations. If I try to add the separate folders myself, I get a message asking if I want to 'merge' folders. I'm VERY reluctant to say yes as I don't want to risk messing everything up or losing my content. I downloaded the Daz Central installer but it doesn't want to run on my PC even though it's 64 bit. It is Windows 7 though... Any help, anyone???

Merge should be ok. Very large caveat with that statement. Without the old Daz installers it's difficult to manually install the daz gen 4 figures to Poser... I've done so without merging but it requires adding all of the delta files and such (which are contained at the top of the library structure in a folder entitled !DAZ) by hand. These files contain morph channel data. If you manage to install manually you then have to run the included DzCreateExPFiles-figure name.bat, which essentially activates the morph channels in the figure. Without running this file the various morph packages will not work.

It's a giant headache if you haven't done it a few times, personally I would not recommend trying it by hand.

I would manually place the contents of the Character, Pose, etc into the library. And the contents of Geometries and Textures likewise. If the !DAZ folder is already present at the top of your library THIS is the folder I would merge with so that the morph data for whatever figure you're adding is added. Then run the like named bat file for that figure.

You should be able to add folders without merging, which is puzzling. But like I said I would not try adding to the !DAZ folder manually. It's not quite as difficult as hacking in ERC manually to a cr2 but you'll need nerves of steel to add all those delta files and such correctly without botching something up. In particular if you're adding a morph package manually on top of an already installed Daz figure morph channel data folder structure.
