Subject: Poser 12 and the Included content download error?

patlane ( ) posted Thu, 24 December 2020 at 3:04 PM · edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 12:39 AM

Hello. Just purchased Poser 12, Installed correctly, Registered without a problem. Went into the Library and clicked onto the purchases tab and tried to download the Included content. Says there is an error downloading every single file?

Poser 12 Error-1.jpg

Is this a common fault. Thanks in advance Pat Lane :)

hborre ( ) posted Thu, 24 December 2020 at 4:23 PM

I haven't heard of anyone having problems downloading content through the purchases tab. I just tried installing the HW_BigDog compressed file and it seemed to work. Try downloading one at a time and see if that works. It's working for me right now.

patlane ( ) posted Thu, 24 December 2020 at 5:51 PM

Thanks for the reply. The other problem seems to manifest itself where i am unable to turn the downloads off and select them individually. Have tried turning Poser on and off, even disconnecting the network. It just seems to be stuck there in the Purchased/Included tab. The only thing i can think to do is reinstall Poser 12. hborre ( ) posted Thu, 24 December 2020 at 6:11 PM

If you haven't done so, reboot your system and try Poser again. It might be stuck in some type of error mode and needs to have that cleared out with a reboot. If that doesn't work then your only recourse is to reinstall the software.

patlane ( ) posted Fri, 25 December 2020 at 8:14 PM

Rebooted several times, and on my third install of Poser 12. The install clears the errors until i click on the included files. It tries to download getting as far as a manifest file then throws up the error again. Have put in a ticket. My first instruction was to reboot my machine.

I Looked at the firewall. Poser 12 has rights to both transmit and receive through the Firewall. Could be a rights issue on the Bondware PoserSoftware server side, but they gave me a new serial key when i paid for the software. I can log into Renderosity and download my purchases without any problem at all.

Which version of P12 do you have currently? The latest build, 12.0.340, released on 12/22 has corrected some issues with content downloads through the Purchase tab. You can try d/l and installing the latest version to see if that works for you. To be honest, I don't typically d/l content through Poser, I use other conventional methods.

ChromeStar ( ) posted Fri, 25 December 2020 at 10:55 PM

Unless something has changed, the included content can't be downloaded except through Poser now. Content you've purchased separately can still be downloaded, but not included content.

patlane ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2020 at 3:57 AM

The version of Poser 12 i am using is the latest. 12.0.340. I downloaded on the 24/12/2020. Now i do remember a several months ago being directed to a download page with all the extra (Included) content on as well as all of the Poser historical libraries. I can remember seeing the HW Gorilla in the list of many files. This update was the one mentioned in a lot of threads for Poser 11 where there was a problem for many with HW Gorilla and HW Dusk Not working.

I also see that my Poser 12 Update came with Three main files: Install Poser 12. Install Queue Manager 12. Installation Text File.

What wasn't included was the Poser Support File, unless this is not needed for the latest version 12. Just guessing for a fix at the moment. Thanks. Pat Lane :)

Richard60 ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2020 at 10:30 AM

Have you tried just downloading each file by itself? I live out in the sticks and my internet is by WiFi (through 6 hops) and I can only reliably download one file at a time. And even then I will sometimes get an error, but re-downloading fixes it.

patlane ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2020 at 12:16 PM

Richard60. Yes, tried downloading files singularly, Altogether, Logged in, Not logged in, on new reinstall, reboot, even with fingers crossed. Yes, my own fingers and then my wife's. It is beginning to feel like a rights issue server side or a setting i have missed on my firewall, although the renderosity side has no issues. Although purchasing Poser 12 from Renderosity directed me to the PoserSoftware download page with no issues at all. ChromeStar mentioned in the thread earlier that Bondware were no longer allowing 'Included Content' downloads from a specific web page but made is so they can only be downloaded through the Poser Library itself. It sounds fair, its their software and bundles, but they obviously need to allow people to actually download it really.

Richard60 ( ) posted Sat, 26 December 2020 at 12:57 PM

Only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you may have a rights issue on your side. I have both the program and content setup on a E: drive to prevent issues of permissions. You could try setting Poser into it's own folder on the C: Drive and Content not in the Public folder.

I am thinking right issue as well. And map all my downloads to s specific runtime directory on another drive. But after playing around with the task manager i found several cefclient.exe files generated which control the poser library window. By stopping the process i can remove individual parts of the library window. It may have something to do with the Chrome Browser so i have installed it. Still no joy from the Poser ticket experts either.

I have this exact issue. my runtime is in a public folder, firewall is open, I believe my registration is fine, as i filled in all the required things. exactly as screenshot by Patlane, i cannot download included content individually or all at once. have uninstalled and reinstalled poser twice.

Have you tried to install the runtime elsewhere? I mean: in a dedicated folder, possibly on another drive then C:?

that is actually how i had it set up on the first install. I put the runtime in a D drive that has more space than the ssd C drive. thinking the lack of permissions might be the issue, i uninstalled and completely wiped poser 12 from all folders and reinstalled it clean with the runtime in the public documents folder, as it wanted to do. no luck:( I submitted a ticket earlier and am waiting to hear back, but i really cant set up other runtimes or use P12 till i get this worked out, as i dont want to have to undo a bunch of stuff later. i really want to try it as my previous version of poser is much much older... anyone has any suggestions id love to try them.thanks.

The tec Poser people have exhausted all possible equations and installs, configuration & library pref files and come to the conclusion that it may be something to do with Windows 7, and because there is no support for Win 7 anymore, I get the impression they don't want anything to do with it. The next step is Upgrading to Microsoft Windows 10 i am told. I have asked if they can reactivate the download page so i can do the tried and tested method of a manual installation for the Included files. Unfortunately the mere mention of Windows 7 Pro is enough to shut down debate, put the tools away and simply ignore anymore queries. The ticket remains open but with a lack of interaction from the Tec Guys side.

Apologies. The ticket has now been closed with the current status as 'Resolved'?

Can i ask you Tetsu Tora what operating system are you using please.

Thanks. Pat.

Usually this issue appears when the servers are overloaded or the website is experiencing issues.

I, myself have experienced it on windows 10 and I usually allow a few days for it to resolve itself ( which so far it has every time ).

Hello Structure.

I think my problem maybe more of a permanent issue, and being informed by the Tec people it is due to my Unsupported Windows 7 Pro O/S there is no path to a fix except upgrade to windows 10 seems to have stamped a finality on my Poser 12 Support ticket.

There is one question i have. Just before Poser 12 was launched there was a download page with all the included files that could be downloaded manually. I have those files on my hard drive. Is there any difference between the files from this now defunct page and that of the included content installed from within Poser 12 software?

Ok, 2 questions, sorry. My purchase library works fine, (with the odd gripe about downloading template files). Doesn't the Included library use the same download protocols and configuration as the purchased library?

Thanks. Pat :)

ghostman ( ) posted Fri, 08 January 2021 at 8:41 AM

@patlane. Depending on when you downloaded those files the only thing i know that changed is the materials on the HW files. In other word you should be good to go anyway with what you have with some minor tweaks with the normal map settings on those.

@patlane I am also running Win 7 pro, service pack 1, and have also been told by support that it is not supported, but they have tried and were quick to be in touch. the following thread was what convinced me that it could or would run on 7 https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/forumpro/?thread_id=2954111 which, as far as i can tell, it does. just out of luck with the extra content, which sux a bit, but thats life. I plan on asking in that "win 10 only?" thread if any other win 7 users made the download work from the included tab. any suggestions would be appreciated, other than telling me to get win 10, which i wont do, so please, i don't want to debate that. thanks. if I can get it to work ill post back the method. My ticket is also still open, so if anything come of that, ill let you know.

thank you bondware, John and all involved in totally fixing my problem. you guys are some seriously serious support. honestly i did not think this issue would be fixed, but you all went above and beyond. Love forever.

patlane ( ) posted Sat, 09 January 2021 at 7:03 AM

Thank you Tetsu Tora for the link and the good news you have had on the resolving of your issue. And mine as well, although i have not yet been officially informed of the download content page activation by the Poser Support Team.

Which means i can continue with my 'Unsupported' Windows 7 Pro, and leave my £119 or $161.30 Windows 10 Pro in the cupboard for the time being.

Yes, a big thank you to the Poser Support Team.

@ patlane

you can save your Cash for an upgrade to Win 10 Pro if you have Win 7 Pro as it is still offered for free from Microsoft !!

How to get a free Windows 10 upgrade

Download Windows 10

You might want to make a Mirror backup of your Win 7 before upgrading it will allow you a clean rollback. there is also a Rollback option for a while integrated after the Update but better go on the secure side.

I made the Update on several computers I had without any issues ... the big advantage I could keep all my setups just the way they were and all works like a charm. ( All for Free !!! )

Azath ( ) posted Sun, 10 January 2021 at 1:10 PM

Using this Mentioned method to upgrade Win 7 to 10 will give you the advantage that Win 10 will run even faster then your actual Win 7 setup. I upgraded my 8 year old machine and it runs twice as fast as with win 7 . there was no need for any new drivers all got managed with the Microsoft upgrade tool on a stick.

as a security measure I just mirrored my Win 7 on a other empty drive using Paragon if I wanted to plug in win 7 again.

patlane ( ) posted Mon, 11 January 2021 at 12:24 AM

Thank you for the advice Azath.

Unfortunately i have already pressed the 'Buy' button for Windows 10. It's about the right time to move up a few notches, wipe the drive and build again. I have ISO images of old operating systems all over the place that i tend to believe i need but so far never have.

There are some issues with older software, i am corresponding with some of the companies now, mainly old CAD & Audio applications that i am looking at alternatives for. That's the main bug in the soup now.

Thanks Pat :)
