Can somebody help me please. My Daz files are iin a hell of a mess. I seem to have two locations on my hard drive:- C/DAZ 3D/APPLICATIONS/DATA/DAZ 3D/MY DAZ 3D LIBRARY (containing such files as DATA,PEOPLE,RUNTIME,SCENES, and numerous others C/USERS/PUBLIC/PUBLIC DOCUMENTS/MY DAZ 3D LIBRARY (containing such files as DATA, MY LIBRARY,PEOPLE,RUNTIME,SCENES and numerous others. As a consequence I am having difficulty finding new content when I unzip it, I imagine because it doesn't know wher to instal it. I,m sure there should only be one location not two.

The My Library folder is the default folder that is created when DAZStudio is first installed. The My DAZ 3D Library folder is the default folder created by DIM (DAZ Install Manager). If you are installing content through DIM expect all your files to appear in the latter folder, this is my preferred location. DIM can be configured to install content anywhere however you need to select that location manually. How are you installing your content?

You are the third person to post having their Studio and content installed in this messed up way. Did you perhaps follow a tutorial?

No, I changed my desktop and the new one has two hard drives with program folders on each. Daz Studio 4 seems to have installed on each.

I'm installing my content by unzipping in My Daz 3D Library in C/USERS/PUBLIC DOCUMENTS. Should I try to merge the two "My 3D Library folders? If so which of the two locations should I use?

I forgot to mention that the DIM seems to be installed on both hard drives.

Is the second drive new and formatted for just data? It sounds odd that the second drive is a mirror image to the primary drive. I have 3 drives on my second computer and no duplication on either of them.

my stuff originally went to C: Daz 3d Applications data Daz 3D My DAZ 3D Library. I rewrote the location so all is in the C: users Public Public Documents My DAZ 3D Library. Dim doesn't work for me and the new DAZCentral is too stupid to use :)

C: Daz 3d Applications data is not the default install location(s) for anything in DIM so how did you come up with this location?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sat, 23 January 2021 at 4:56 PM

Daz Central uses a catch-all Daz 3D folder, though Applications should still be executables not data as far as I know.

jestmart, RHaseltine, I put the latest Daz studio on and that is where it put everything . The older additions went to my library.

If possible setup your content/library directory on you D:/ drive. Those tend to have atleast a terrabyte more space.
