Subject: No download for paid order.

bwldrd ( ) posted Fri, 21 May 2021 at 10:28 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 10:14 AM

I just purchased Ken1171_Designs "SkinEdit for Poser 12" , order number 113663507. The order shows as paid, but there is no download link for the file. Only the product name and author. It also will not install inside of Poser 12 using the purchases, tried installing it that way and shows a 0 byte file and tells me "Product download limit has been reached."

I have just purchased this and have both the same issues you have.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I have been following the thread on this script over at Hivewire3D and it appears that no one was more surprised at the launch of this product than the creator, mainly becouse he is still working on it. Sadly I purchased this before looking at the latest information on that thread.

Look like someone jumped the gun, it happens but I hope they sort it soon as I think this is going to be a very popular script.

Ahh..and on a final note, to whichever moderater/customer support/staff person deals with this, no I don't want a refund. Ken1171 explained what the happened over on the Hivewire forums. I will keep the purchase and wait for when it is released. Consider the issue solved for now :)

Thank you.

I would agree with that, just let me know when the program is available. I have most of Ken1171 scrips and this is a must have so I am only going to spend any refund on buying it again. I just hope that Ken1171 is not pressured to finish it when the fault lies elsewhere.

Heloo? What sort of bait and switch is this? I just got into the same boat. And I'm NOT pleased. It's not that I don't want the product. What I want is communication. Can we get please at least a sticky on the page or something? I just prepaid 20 bucks for something that is not even ready thinking it was ready, and with n o ETA? Holy moly.

You guys know I keep defending Renderosity, but this is absolutely ridiculous! Can someone whois at least a bit competent fix that product page ASAP and post an update please?

hornet3d ( ) posted Sat, 22 May 2021 at 10:59 AM

I think the hold up is the fact that it is the weekend, I was not expecting a immediate solution but came to put a thread here to highlight the problem but it had already been done. Snag is there are not many people that look at the threads before buying a product and there is no reason why they should. What is clear is the longer it is an issue the more people it is going to upset.

I find it hard to believe no one from the moderator staff is monitoring the forums of a commercial site that is open 24/7 even on weekends. I find it even harder to believe no one has the authority to post a 'hey, guys, we're aware and will fix' response. If that's the case, as I said it before, that is an incredibly bad customer service model that has cost reputation to this site before.

Ken1171_Designs ( ) posted Sat, 22 May 2021 at 11:35 AM

I am terribly sorry this is happening and I apologize. I have been working on this script for a long time and I wanted this release to be PERFECT, so I have asked Rendo to adjust the product page settings (the ones vendors cannot change) so it doesn't go live with the wrong settings like it had happened a few times before. This is still in internal beta, and the store page has no ZIP file. In the end, this ended up being the PERFECT way to undermine the released by not reading my request and throwing me in the fire. They have sent the product to QAV for testing without a ZIP and to the store at the same time - and then went for the weekend, leaving me in this pickle. Imagine MY surprise when I saw people buying the product I was still testing, when the product page has no ZIP file... O__o;;

But don't worry - your purchase will be honored when I finish internal beta, and the Rendo QAV is approved. I am 95% done and it's almost there. I won't have my perfect release, but you will have the product soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

You're fine, Ken, I totes understand this is not your fault. I don't mind waiting and treating this as a prepay; I just hate the image this projects, again. And all those people who are buying this because really, how can they tell unless they troll the forum first?

bwldrd ( ) posted Sat, 22 May 2021 at 1:51 PM · edited Sat, 22 May 2021 at 1:52 PM

No worries Ken, as far as release, know there is always room for improvement no matter how much work you do on something, but I personally would rather wait for the "perfect" version. :) So take your time please. Rather have it right, than quick.

And I don't blame you one bit, you're just the vendor. Not your fault for a store screw up.

Thank you for your support, patience and understanding! The product was removed from the store, so now I could finally submit it for QAV. My testers said it was fine to go, but I still thought it needed a bit more tweaking, and now it's out for the QAV process with Rendo. I will be making a new demonstration video of the final version, since it has more features than the last demo I have posted at YouTube. The old video is still good to understand the workflow, but the new one will show the new features. :)

Thanks for the update Ken and for all your efforts in getting this sorted despite it being a weekend. I know you will be upset that the perfect launch did not happen but it really is only a minor blip. Like the others here have said you have nothing to be sorry for and we are happy to wait until it is ready. The main thing is the situation has been contained which was my real concern in this matter.

Thanks, Hornet3D. I really appreciate your support! Now that the dust has settled, I finally had the time to create the proper product thread HERE. That's the official product thread for SkinEdit P12, so people can comment about it there when it's released. Just waiting for QAV to complete now, so it won't be long. :)

You are more than welcome, I have most your scripts and they all work well and make using Poser a lot easier not only that but they make sure I make better use of the content already I have in my runtimes. Lockmaster means I can create new poses from the mass of poses I already own and all with a click of a button. SkinEdit will not only allow me to work quicker but I will be use the skin textures that I own but don't use as they are firefly and I now only use Superfly. I know this was possible before using other scripts but they were for Python 2 and they did leave behind a lot of nodes that are no longer used in Superfly.

My initial idea was to fix all these Dawn materials created for Firefly, and also the vast amount of textures I have for V4 that just won't render correctly in Superfly. It takes too long, and suck al the fun out of it. But I had done it so many times that I noticed a pattern I could automate with a script. However, every figure has different MAT zones, so profiles could unify them all under the same script. That's how SkinEdit was born - out of sheer necessity. One of the happy side effects of reducing shader complexity is that it also renders faster, and looks better in PBR renders. :)

Um. So I got the downlead. I installed it. And now if I want to use it, It asks me for a 'proof of purchase login'. Which I never had to do. And it keeps asking. And I cannot use it with my current, valid Rendo login.

This is absolutely bonkers, guys. This is zero customer service, with no updates, no apologies and not fixing the issue but dumping it into another pocket. What the HELLS?

I did not come across that problem I installed it via the purchases tab in the library which needs to log into my Renderosity account which it did. I then installed which ran as expected and launches just the same as any other script. I am loading it from the Scripts Manager but I have also checked and it will launch from the purchases tab under scripts.

It does not let me to log into my Rendo account from the Purchases tab. It never has. Not once. I gives me the login screen over and over again. I even rest my password just to be sure. I always used the 'Install from ZIP' option or manually moved files and never once have I encountered anything asking for a validation like this. I find it a bit offputting and strange. After the first fiasco, I hope you understand why I'm a bit, just a little bit,...miffed.

I think in your position I would be very very miffed. The problem you describe is certainly strange, I have loaded all of the scripts via the purchases tab without problem except it does take a while to log in. All of the other content I have purchased recently I have installed via the zip option as I want it to go into a specific runtime. I have not had an issue with either method so far. I am really at a loss as to what is happening or how I can help, much as I would like to.
