Subject: DAZ 4.15 not starting

gmm2 ( ) posted Thu, 27 May 2021 at 6:13 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 4:51 AM

I asked this on the DAZ forums as well, but I'll do so here as well just in case.

I updated to DAZ 4.15 this morning and now I can't start it at all. Oddly, I was briefly able to open my previous version (4.12) normally just after installation, with no issues. Since closing it, I can't get any version of it to run at all.

And I mean completely. There's no initialization whatsoever, not even to start up and crash. Nothing in the Task Manager. There are no records of any of these attempts in the log file, just my last startup of 4.12. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but nothing. I've tried opening it through DAZ Central, nothing.

I first thought my system didn't meet the requirements and I updated after having misunderstood things, but after rechecking nothing seems out of place, and no one on the DAZ forums mentioned anything amiss yet.

My system:

Windows 10

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz

16 GB RAM

64-bit

Updated to add that this issue is technically solved. At a DAZ forum member's suggestion, I tried the 4.15 public build, which worked. I have no idea what the original problem was, but I have a working version of DAZ again, so... yay!

Check with the task manager whether DAZ is still running in the background. If so, just end the task. At least that worked for me.
