I'm quite dense in the material dept, so don't feel bad. I just like to see how things work, and I look forward to it. I believe you're doing a good job with her.

Awww, thanks!I particularly love the fact that neither of your recent Antonia renders is immediately recognizable as Antonia.

I guess I'll include a small collection of morphs in the beta so that you lovelies have something to play with while I package them up for a separate freebie. I don't have many decent morphs for Toni, but the ones I have I use a lot. Today I saved out some additional material files, but somehow messed up the links with the body dials, so I'll have to do some of them again tomorrow. No biggie. Anyway, here's another little demo render. I think someone said Asian or something?
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
I mean, West and Central Asia also exist, right? It's not like East Asia is butting directly on Eastern Europe, even though if you talk to someone like Putin, it probably goes Germany - Russia - China.
Not that it really matters in this context. I'm just having fun with some old morphs.

Of course, the deeper reason for me "selling" characters that are not distinctly East Asian looking as "hey, Asian" is that back in the day I remember hearing from at least one person that they found epicanthic fold morphs really difficult. So, I tried to make one for lo-res Antonia and found it really easy, which means that now all Antonias since 1.2 have one available to them. So, what I'm really trying to say here is hey, she's got a free, ready-made epicanthic fold morph you can use for all your Asian, African, Native American, African American and Eastern European characters.

Rain away, I've got a good umbrella! :-)I hesitate to rain on parades, even though it is one of my most pleasurable sensations, but epicanthic fold morphs are about as easy to create as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Like I said, it being super-easy was my experience, too. But I find a lot of things easy that other people don't. I also find a lot of things hard that you and others here apparently find easy. So, who the eff knows what's objectively easy and what isn't? :-D

Oh no, it's totally relative. Just seemed like a good opportunity for the sloth gif again lol.primorge posted at 9:49 PM Tue, 27 September 2022 - #4445384

Remember the epicanthic fold morph does not really change the shape of the eyes. It's just one detail. One can tweak lots of tiny details in a character and end up with basically the same likeness. Maybe one day I'll try to make a proper Asian character or three for Antonia, but right now I need to get a release ready. :-)

What time is it? It is "check Poser files into source control" o'clock, is what it is.
Such a fine line between "lol I just lowkey put my toy online so other folks can use it if they want you're welcome or whatever" and "ALL IMPERFECTIONS MUST BE EXTERMINATED."

WELL CLOSE BUT THE FOLD IS STILL CLEARLY MISSING. OF COURSE NOT TO SOUND "RACIST" OR ANYTHING BUT THERE ARE MANY "ASIAN" EYE SHAPES BASED ON WHAT PART OF ASIA FROM, GENDER, ETC. BUT THE BEST EXAMPLE IS STILL THE PHOTO POSTED A FEW PAGES BACK I LOVE AND HAVE TRIED DUPLICATING IN POSER FIGURES W/O MUCH SATISFACTION.

It was one of the problems I was having when I was trying to create my own character. I have long since abandoned the idea, but I was starting to get something I kind of liked. This was before retopology or anything, but I couldn't get the fold right...WELL CLOSE BUT THE FOLD IS STILL CLEARLY MISSING. Not an "Asian" morph but Nova with some of my MWE eye morphs dialed in, all the shapes are actually custom morphs, with and without conforming lashes. OpenGL preview. Yeah, I should apologize too, for posting my Asian character that I never finished...And apologies to ODF for the off topic/non Antonia tangent from all concerned...

Well, some progress today: Loading material files that use the skin dials no longer crashes Poser, but currently I have to load the file twice for the dials to work, and then, as FVerbaas mentioned, I still have to visit the materials in the material room for the settings to show up in the preview.
(shante: That face morph primorge posted is not Toni, at all. It's a completely different figure called Nova. No wonder she doesn't look like Toni. )

Thanks. Yes the cross is a simple 3d model I made and set at ambient value 4 in the scene, IDL. It took a bit of manuevering to get it to show up... I suppose I could have done it much more easily in post. The character is my version of Captain Howdy that appears, almost subliminally, in Father Karras' dream sequence from the Exorcist.
I'll release these morphs with texture files, and others, when odf finalizes 1.3 beta for dev consumption.
Thank you for commenting and the thoughtful observations.

LOFTY!?Despite mighty efforts it proves to be an unachievable summit to create a proper epicanthic fold to satisfy SHANTE'S lofty desires...
YEAH....VERY FUNNY....ALWAYS CHANGING YOUR ON-LINE NAME AS IF THAT IS SUPPOSED TO CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE. IF I COULD CREATE MY OWN STUFF FOR USE IN POSER I WOULD WASTE MY DAMN TIME ON THESE FORUMS EXCHANGING IDEAS FROM GENEROUSE CREATIVES MAKING CONTENT WE CAN ALL USE....THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN IDEA THREAD AND I VOICED AN IDEA. NOT AN OPINION BUT YES..A DESIRE...TO HAVE A VERSATILE MORPHABLE FIGURE THAT WILL STAND OUT FOR CREATIVE WORK. SINCE I GET TIRED OF THE STANDARD "WHITE GUUURRRRL" LOOK I THOUGHT REQUESTING/EXPECTING SOME SWAY FROM THE ORDINARY MORPHS FOR HER SAME OL SAME OL FIGURE BY ADDING A CREDIBLE AND MUCH NEEDED!... ASIAN EYE/FACE MORPH WOULD NOT BE OUT OF PLACE. BUT I GUESS THAT IS TOO LOFTY A DESIRE FOR YOU AND YOUR STUPID RESPONSE IS......ALIEN OR MONSTER OPTION?!
REALLY!
I HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE SYSTEM SINCE THE IMPORTED PLAGUE SHUT US DOWN....MAYBE SHOULD HAVE STAYED GONE TO AVOID POSTING INTERESTING CHALLENGINGE IDES FOR A FIGURE I DID NOT SEE OFFERED ON ORIGINAL AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE IN NEXT RELEASE. TOO MUCH FOR YOU I GUESS.
I SHOULD HAVE STAYED GONE...FORGOT ABOUT ALL THE TROLLS IN THIS POOL!
ODF:
THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT THOUGHT IT WAS A TONI VARIANT...MY STUPID...AND THANKS FOR YOU OFFERINGS .....BUT STILL NO ASIAN EYES/FACE!...LOFTY OR OTHERWISE.
OK WHATEVER TIME TO GO BACK INTO SHADOW DWELL MODE...GOOD LUCK!
Overreacting a bit this time don't you think shante? Triggered by the wotd lofty? If no one can offer a morph that fits your requirememts would demanding/discerning be a better choice? You've rejected morph demos by odf, myself, whatever professional made that La Femme asian character morph. I don't know what to tell you, if you can express your opinion so can I. Regardless of your bunched panties and caps lock no TOS terms have been violated and using the word Lofty is hardly an insult.
Rhia474 posted at 4:22 PM Thu, 29 September 2022 - #4445510You're too modest. Aren't you a programmer with a PhD?That's more percents than I understand. That would be great. Thank you for your incredible work and sharing your creation process. Even though I understood about 5 percent only, it was fascinating.
Anyway, hopefully Oppenheimer didn't change any of the vertex orders or numbers in Ant's noggin or I'm SOL with recycling a lot of my older morphs ;)
The eye morphs I can rework. Just worried a bit about the head...
Sorry, but I am become death, destroyer of morphs. The brow geometries are gone, which were part of the head actor. So, there's no way existing morphs will work without conversion. Same thing with the breasts, hip and feet, so I see no point in trying to preserve vertex order in the rest of the actors.
My fixVertexOrder script (part of pydeltamesh) is very good at converting head morphs from Toni 1.2 to Toni 1.3, though. I could extend that to one that directly loads an old morph into Toni 1.3, if there's a need.
Then there's the "copy morph from" functionality in Poser which generally works quite well. Not sure which Poser version it was introduced in, though.
ETA: To be perfectly honest, the main point of the 1.3 release is to break all the things, so that hopefully fewer things will need to be broken in upcoming versions.
-- I'm not mad at you, just Westphalian.
Ah well. It's ok. I can rebuild the stuff I've done. I'd rather actually, now that I think about it. I can just manually align shapes from the old morphed mesh onto the new mesh in mudbox if I were so enamoured with the old stuff, but I'm not. A clean slate sounds like fun, I have a roadmap at least.
Kind of a shame all those old morphs by others are lost in the process though. Especially all those DieTrying morphs.
Copy morphs was introduced in 11. It's anathema to my thing honestly. Not so much for copying existing morphs to clothes, though I'd be inclined to use D3d's morphing clothes for that as I hear it has more refinement. But for my own things I'd rather just do it over and better, or at least hindsight different.
I'm playing about with 1.2 at the moment and I'm curious what software you used to create her included morphs. Surely not Wings? Although it's possible with it's magnet functions...
V4's brow mesh is a body part of it's own, though virtually useless... just a difference observation.

Generally speaking, the materials I'm putting into Antonia 1.3 are nothing exciting. I'm no wizard in the material room, I normally just plug some texture maps into the PBSDF node and be done with it. Using PhysicalSurface here instead so P11 and FireFly users get to play. But that means suboptimal SSS, among other things, and I have no ambition to fix that. I leave it up to folks who prefer playing with Poser material nodes over gauging their own eyes out for some undiscernible reason.
