When I mean doing this manually, I am trying to avoid having to rebuild each morph in Hexagon and then exporting the resulting OBJ into the morph loader DAZ script. I'd like to know how Autofit is able to port all the morphs of say a Genesis 2 figure clothing to a G3F figure clothing when completed...
I hope there's a way to do it in an automated way to transfer the morphs from a DAZ Genesis clothing figure to a Poser clothing figure like V4
Thanks Richard,
Oh, I convert the rigging of V4 to weightmapped before using the transfer utility on the dress.
What and where do I right click on? Is that the tool that transfers V4 morphs to the dress?
Actually I should clarify, the original g8f dress has a morph called 'skirt length' I'd like to transfer that morph on to the V4 version of the dress. Is that possible to do without having to make an obj in Hexagon and then transferring it via morph loader?
Thanks!
You would need to export the morph dress as OBJ, then (if I followed) reshape that to match the shape of the V4 version of the dress. or just use its changes from default to guide how to change the OBJ you used Transfer Utility on. Once you have a long version of the V4 dress shape just use Edit>Morph Loader Pro to load it as a morph for the dress.
Thanks Richard, yeah that's the way I was going to do unless there was a more elegant way of doing it. Looks like it is a manual job to do if there is no other way. How come autofit seems to get all the morphs from a V4 piece of clothing and transfers them to a Genesis figure? You would need to export the morph dress as OBJ, then (if I followed) reshape that to match the shape of the V4 version of the dress. or just use its changes from default to guide how to change the OBJ you used Transfer Utility on. AutoFit has the morphs there and just keeps them: they are stored as deltas, differences from the base shape, so in many cases they will still work reasonably well on the modified shape. When you have an OBJ it doesn't have the morphs, so they cannot be transferrred as deltas; exporting the original morphed shape and simply importing that as a new morph will bring the literal shape across, rather than the differences, and so will push the item back to its original shape plus the morph rather than its new shape plus the morph.
It might be possible to transfer the morph deltas by file hacking (copying and pasting between the two .dsfs, or perhaps better creating a new empty morph from the right-click menu while the Parameters pane is in Edit mode, saving as a morph asset, and then copying the deltas across) but it's not something I have explored.
Both Poser and DS stoer deltas, the difference between the final shape and the initial shape. When you set a morph each affected vertex is just slid along the line between the two, by the amount set by the dial/slider. An OBJ used to geenrate a morph, however, is an absolute shape and the deltas are generated by comparing that to the original shape. So AutoFit just copies the deltas for existing morphs, they are making the same offsets but from a different starting point, while importing the OBJ from the other fit creates a new, potentially very different, set of deltas.

Hi all,
I took a G8F dress, exported the dress as an OBJ file and imported it into Hexagon. I took the G8F's OBJ file and shaped it to a regular V4's body shape within Hexagon. I then used the Transfer Utility to make the dress a conforming item for V4 to wear. The good looking G8F dress is now a V4 dress - with no morphs...
My question is, how do I transfer all the morphs that were on the original G8F dress into my new V4 creation? The amount of geometry hasn't changed on the V4 so it's still a candidate for morph making but is there a way to transfer the morphs from the G8F dress on to the V4 dress without having to do this manually?
Anyone have a tutorial for this?
Thanks!
