Subject: Conforming Clothes? I need a little help please :O)

Ok I exported the default Poser skirt as a .3ds file and modified it in 3D max 2.5 then exported it from there as an .obj File. Then I opened up notepad and made a Hierarchy file and put them both in the Poser4:Geometries:Poser4Clothes:Skirt Folder. so far so good "I think". Then I opened Poser 4 and Converted Hier file. During the conversion I got 2 error messages: No geometry to match node:Hip & same message for the Abdomen. It went ahead and had me name a new file and created a new .cr2 and .rsr but it is not visible in the window or on the side bar. but i can see all the info in the Hierarchy window. What might have gone wrong?

Rather than creating hierarchy files I bring my models into Poser by editing an existing CR2 file. In your case open the skirt CR2 file in a text editor, search for "OBJ" there are two instances, change them to the new object file that you have correctly positioned in the Geometeries folder. Check that all body part names match (hip is not the same as Hip). Save the file with a new name (check that your text editor has not added "TXT" to the file extention) into the characters/whatever folder. Open Poser and in the characters/whatever section click on your new creation. Re save to get a library icon. Hope this helps. Regards PhilC

ooops yes sorry, start by importing the skirt object file, then save it in OBJ format and work on that. Dont just export the skirt figure in the zero position, there is an offset that will throw you out. :) PhilC

The problem your getting with the .phi is the names in it for the hip and abdomen do not match the group names in the .obj. Poser is very particular about case when it comes to it's files. You must have "Hip" in the .phi if you have "Hip" in the .obj. Use "hip" instead... and you'll get the same problem again. Though it is best to deal directly with the original .obj, you can use an exported one if you make sure ALL of the parameters are set to "0". One thing to keep in mind though is... in the cr2, Poser "welds" identical verticie. The result of your export may not match the original verticie count which would cause all morphs for that particular part to not work. I don't use Max, but I believe the name of that plugin for it to handle .obj's is HABWare or something like that. I remeber seeing something on Steve Cox's site about it. Plus, when Poser exports to obj or 3ds it does NOT call the parts the names in the orginal obj. It uses the names in the name field in the cr2. This is a real pain in the keester for us cr2 hackers. rbtwhiz is correct. The names for the objects in the object file MUST be exactly the same (case sensitive) as the names in the phi file.

Thank you all VERY much for your Help!!! I checked the Names and messed with the .cr2 and Ive got something to work with now! I just need to mess with the peramiter dials a bit but WOW! This is One Happy Poser!!! Once again Thank you

I've tried modifying the skirt in Max and I found that if I import in obj format Max crashes every time. Probably a problem with Habware rather than Max but who knows? No problem in 3ds though. Anyone else found this?

Yes Maz that is why I had to import it as a .3ds which I think is why it has created a New set of problems for me now i can see it but its on the wrong axis and wont Scale down properly.
