Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 4:12 am)
from an avid Bryce enthusiast .......... definitely invest in Vue 4 ! the updates Corel has made to Bryce 5 does not warrant the extra $s charged for it , and Vue definitely creates better landscapes and terrains than Bryce does, not to mention Vue imports Poser files , whereas Bryce doesn
t. and greetings to everyone , surgery went as expected , am now recouperating , internet time extremely limited , but will be back soon. And with a "special" picture for Sams3D and LaurieA ;)
I also have them both and I'd have to say beyond a dought Vue is by far a much better value. 1000 times easier to use. Basically unlimitied polys in your render. Every tree and bush different. You can edit them also. It imports meshes well also. No clucky interface like Bryce. You can actually do lots of work inside it.
One of the main features that Bryce 5 brings is the Tree Lab, which is some sort of mesh editing thingie. I tried it in the Bryce 5 demo and couldn't get it make anything much different from the default tree. So, the Corel people would have you believe that you have an unlimited amount of trees and plants, etc., that you can use, but I dunno.... Anyhow, that's one of the great things about Vue, is that by altering the image and transparency maps on the various vegetations, you can in fact have virtually unlimited trees and plants in your scene. Vue 4 is also less expensive than Bryce 5, and another pls is that they're tech man, Steve Bell actually visits this forum and deals with us when we have problems. Try getting THAT out of anyone at Corel! ;) Anyhow, go with Vue 4, and you won't be disappointed. There are some issues, to be sure, but they're constantly being fixed. The latest patch seems to have cleared up almost everything except for the Poser .BUM file problem. PS Glad you're OK and back, Cozmic!
Cool! Hey, when you get it, be sure to come back here for all your info, and there are ALOT of freebies to go along with it, such as Varian's, Guitta's, and Bernie's alternate plant materials...and all kinds of other great stuff. Also, in case you hadn't noticed, up in the box at the top of the screen is a link to where you can download a Vue 4 demo to play with while you wait. I don't think it's been patched yet, so take it with a grain of salt if yoy try it. The current patch has cleared up alot of the problems with the initial release. Cheers, Mike
I never tried the demo, since it didn't come out until long after I bought Vue 4, but I was afraid of that... I would think that they would want to fix it. shrug But I remember before the first patch came out, I had some crashing problems, though not as much as some other people did. My crashes happened mostly in the Material Editor. Oh well, glad to hear you ordered it, and I hope you enjoy it. :)
