Subject: i need help with Michael 2 because i cannot find his many faces

i'm sure this is a very silly question but i purchased mike 2 from daz and he is installed but i cannot find all his other faces, lol where are the many faces at??! ps. i had the original mike and i clicked to buy the upgrade mike 2. does that matter? thanks!

Yeah, this is one morphable dude! So much better than the original Millennium Man and... dare I say it... better even than Victoria 2 (although I am sure she'll still see more use...)

Cinnamon, the faces aren't presets in a library, you create your own faces for him yourself with all the new morph dials on the head. Just select the head and start dialing. You can create a countless variety of faces for him. He has a whole bunch of new morphs that Michael 1 didn't have. And no, the upgrade doesn't matter. I bought the upgrade, too, because I already had Michael 1. This just adds the new charactistics of Michael 2, using the geometry of the original Mike. You end up with the same exact Michael 2 as the full package. Enjoy! Melanie

Unfortunately, Cinnamon, it's typical of DAZ NOT to include a lot of the extras that you usually get from buying stuff at the Marketplace here (i.e., such as extra faces, textures, etc.). You need to read their ads very carefully -- and if they don't explicitly state that something is part of the product (even though it's pictured all over their ad), it won't be in the product.

The good news is that many of the faces are available as morph dials. For example, setting HeadAsian, HeadAsian2, OR HeadAsian3 to 1 gives you three different Asian heads.

I'd suggest changing the Michael2 morph to 0 before cranking the Asian morphs up that high, otherwise the jaw gets a bit silly looking. (The Michael2 face has a stronger jaw, and it gets a bit overdone with some ethnic morphs.)

I know the Daz tech said that they are in the most appropriate order for character design, BUT, BUT, BUT I can't find anything!!!! Why oh why can't they just start at the top of the head and work down. If you want an ear dial you look in the ear section, etc. I spend almost half of my time trying to remember where that certain dial was that I changed 10 dials ago! Even Vic2 was in a less confusing order. It's getting so bad lately that it might even turn me off Poser, and I've been using it for almost 2 years now. And it's not as if someone can write an app to sort the dials - or why hasn't anyone. And of course because I'm on a Mac it'd be another couple of years before there's one for us. OK I'm stressed to the limit - I'll shutup now.

I've never liked the way the dials were set for Vicki2 so the Mike2 ones didn't surprise me at all. I won't say they've been a real problem, just a minor annoyance.

I found it annoying that they changed the dial locations from where they are located on Vicki 2. It may make more sense, but I prefer consistency.

Maybe Daz would listen if we got enough people to contact them about the dial order. I'll bet there's a lot of newbies out there just tearing their hair out. I am, and I'm not a newbie! I've been waiting patiently for Mike 2 for months. I use Poser for at least 4 - 5 hours a day. But I'm so pissed that I won't be doing that today. I'm losing interest...

pilot please don't lose interest ,so before that happens take a break from poser for ,maybe a day or two sit back relax, and then after that then return and you should feel much better. --criticom-- {:

Thank you for replying AnneMarie, but I've already 'been there, done that'! I'm sorry but they are still totally confusing. Maybe if there was some sort of dividing line between groups of dials before they start repeating again and again, that might help. I am a hobbyist and not a 'character creator'; I don't start at the top and follow the progression (example Mike 2 head). I CAN see starting the list at anything that drastically changes the head shapes at the beginning of the list, but anything after that should be grouped by the top of the head to the chin, in order. I can't be the only one that thinks this way. I spent all day yesterday changing over a character from Mike 1 to Mike 2 and let me tell you that a couple of times I wanted to put my fist through the damn screen!!! (I need to calm down now.) So before I say anything more I'll regret I'm going to investigate Borus in the marketplace and pack up Mike. (sorry)

You can reorder the morphs as you see fit. The CR2 file is a text file and it takes to cut-n-paste quite well. Just use site markers " zzz " " xxx " and use Find to jump around. EditPad Lyte will handle M2.

Personally I use Morph manager to rearrange morphs. I keep a 'loader' library of pz3 files. for example: Mike body, mike headshape, mike ears, and so on. As I collect/make morphs I put them there. Then when I'm composing a new character, I use MorphManager to load them all into a master character file. As they load in they stay togther, so all the ear dials are togther, and so on. Mind you that master file is a whopper - my p4fem file weighs in at almost 50 megs now. When I have my character to my satisfaction I squash the morphs together (again with MM) so the file is smaller, and to not distributre other peoples morphs. Remember if you use this method be aware of other people's copyrights and distribution rights. What I'd love to see is a tree structure for the dials so I don't have to scroll down for ten minutes. You know - a tree with the figureshierarchy and then with userdefined groups under the bodyparts. That would make my life SO much easier. Not sure how hard it would be to do though. Lyrra

I started out using MM4 too. But for Vic, I have two master files, head morphs ~ 22 meg and body morphs ~ 17 meg.
As I got additional morphs, I found that cut-n-paste was the most direct way to get the nose tip morphs, etc all together. I also have a code for the parts e- = eye, r- = ear, n- = nose, ... a letter dash gives more room the a real title. Now if only Poser had a readable font and a background with some contrast, I might could read the titles.

One thing about using MM4 to generate combination morphs, it does not recognize FBM set dials. No problem for the face most of the time, but a real problem with the body. Because almost every body morph can be set from BODY, it makes the setup easy, but to do a combination, it is simplest to just use Spawn in Poser. MM4 makes copying these to their own CR2 files easy and if you want to take the morph into a modeler to further tweek it, export to geometries, is safer for me than using Poser export.

Are you PC people telling me that you can sort morphs with Morph Manager?! I'm on a Mac and have MacConstructor but I'm sure it will only transfer morphs not sort. I'll have to follow up with Martin C. on that. Thanks for the info anyway.

I've done it. I transferred all the morphs to another figure once, and they came in backward (in the revserse order of what I was used to), so I just rearranged them. Melanie

If I remember right (it was only once, but along time ago), I think I just moved them around. Maybe I'm thinking about something else, but that's what I thought it was. If I'm wrong, just call it a blonde thing. :) Melanie
