Subject: people are surprising

Slynky ( ) posted Mon, 31 December 2001 at 8:41 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 6:22 PM

I just lost a lot of respect for two people, thanks to c&d forum talk. Very surprising, I really liked those two people too. oh where art thou my lost faith in humanity?

I suppose your right in a way...however, every place serves some purpose to some...the C&D is a great place to vent frustration if anything and if it weren't there, folks like ME would be places like right here a heck of a lot more....can you imagine...?? Boo! Cheers ;-)

the point being, a moderator and a regular member really did some stuff they shouldn't have, and they'll hear nothing of it ever from anyone, and that is truly sad. It sems the leaders get in all the trouble, while the lemmings continue to go on, blatantly breaking rules, and getting away with breaking written down/agtreed to rules, simply because the rest of the mass is on their side.

Slynky ( ) posted Tue, 01 January 2002 at 1:22 AM

incidently, c and d is great to vent, so long as you don't break the rules. Many rules were broken, and all of them except one person who broke them were overlooked. Im not saying he should go unpunished, but the rest, including the mod, should be punished too.

I suppose C and D mean complaint and debate. Can they still be viable people which have made some mistakes! However wrong? I think people often become upset when someone does something wrong. But this "You have fallen so low. I don't know you should really be saved for serious stuff. GREAT moral errors. Death, raping, killing, ect. " I 'm speaking from the point of view of a person who does not know what was done but guesses that it was not as serious to loos all respect for a person. I have two friends which have just started to talk again after 15 years because one left the other at a comic convention. Which was a real shame because they were the best of friends for the earlier 15 years of their life. I mean really....You were at a comic convention. But then again I would be ticked too. Bsteph

Hello. I have been ernestly and excitedly following this forum since I learned about it only a couple weeks ago, and have already developed such a heart for the people I've met here on the photography forum. I've been inspired by the words and photographic work that I've seen. I've been anticipating a long, valuable relationship in this online community. I've never been to the Complaint & Debate forum before today. What I saw today was discusting. ..And, hey, I've been around, and I don't easily blush, OK? I really don't know what exactly Slynk is talking about, but I just saw some rediculus, psudo-intellectual ecclectic drivel; some kind of obcene, childish limrick of some sort; and to top-it-off, a thread complaining that somehow the guts had been ripped out of their beloved forum, and it's some kind of shell of what it used to be [see "where's the beef"]. Is this voilence to my sensibilities and intellect 'toned down' somehow? I may decide to try to forget all about my experience tonight, and try to go on with what I truly thought was some kind of landmark in my life, and my goals to become an artist. But I think it will still bother me that as a member of this COMMUNITY, I apperently DON'T have a voice to influence ethic, because where would I go to COMPLIAN?? It looks like the fox is in charge of the chicken coop.

Ohhhh ahhh.....for a second I thought Slynky was reffering to my sort of flame on this forum, lol =) Guess not everything in this world (r)evolvs around me! (wow, didn't know I could make a lame joke after so much wine last night ;)

I'm moderating (I'm glad to say not all alone, but with a group) a pretty busy forum that's sort of a spin off from a site we are running (www.gplea.org) and I always say that people who don't care about other people's views don't belong on a forum. And if it were totally up to me I wouldn't mind having them kicked out right away. (but it isn't up to me cause I'm not doing most of the work ;) There's nothing wrong with a great heated discussion, but if you loose respect for your 'opponent' and your opponent's opinion you don't even deserve to be told that you're doing something wrong. Well, I think this is a nice moment to realize how much work people like Alpha spend on these things.....you great people keep everything going, thanks =)

RadArt ( ) posted Tue, 01 January 2002 at 12:15 PM

Thanks Alpha....I meant no offense...I think you know that ;-) To tell you the truth, photography was one of my major courses in college, dark room and all, way back when, I personally believe it is an incredibly "important" element to an artist as an invaluable tool of learning, and an enormous inspirational value as well. All art is visual, even written art, for even a writer attempts to stir an imaginary vision of what they scribe...photography seems to be highly under rated of late, unfortunatly, these days...I think, and I believe this may be due to computers and their softwares taking the limelight...but never underestimate someone that CAN take a picture that can move mountains or someone that can create awsome wonders with darkroom manipulations because that is just as much an art as any painting or rendering....it all takes imagination, and art really is imagination and how well you can portray what you imagine with whatever medium(s) you may use. Cheers.....and Happy New Year!

Thanks Alpha. You guys are allright. I hope that you 'regulars' all realize that the MODERATORS of a forum can, to a very great extent, influence that forum's entire tenor - I mean the manner of progress, or course of thought, the genral character and tendency. We should recognize that we have here with the Renderosity Photography Forum a community that has exhibited a profitable manner of progress, a fruitful course of thought, an ethical character, and a kind and loving tendency. It seems this tenor is to a great extent due to our faithful and wise moderators. Most Sincerely, Joe

...err, could somebody explain with few words, what was going on there in C&D. Klicked there first time and tried to get into that world, but naah, dunno what you mean? That Alcapone idiot? .n

PunkClown ( ) posted Wed, 02 January 2002 at 6:17 AM

Alpha, my respect for you grows more every day. Tolerance is a good thing to practice. BTW, who actually has time to go to the C & D forum?? I mean there is so much to see at Renderosity, and when I'm not doing that, I like hanging out here, with good friends. I'm glad we have a forum such as this where we can actually learn things. I think the renderosity community is, on the whole ok, I KNOW the photography forum is, because this thread and the issues and resolutions offered sort of prove it, to me, anyway! Stay happy all! :-)>

Thank you Alpha and PC. And Slynky for bringing us together. Artists have strong feelings.

I agree that the Forums here are a special place and even though I only know you from what you've written and posted I consider you all to be friends. We all need to remember that we are all human and that means at times being selfish, greedy and unpleasant. We also need to remember that we come here to share art work and comments on that art work and that should not include personal problems and bad tempers. I have not been to the C&D and from what i've just read here i don't think I will. But I greatly enjoy the friendly banter and caring that appear elsewhere on the forum. Here's to us and a new year of creativeness and growing respect for one another and our work.
