Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Addicted? Hah! I've downloaded just about all the freebies here in Renderosity. I've downloaded the entire 3D Comic Collective site. My wife paid for a year's subscription to Poserworld. (The best Christmas present I've had in years.) Need I go on? Last time I checked I had 30+ CD's of this stuff, and lost count. One positive thing about all this. I can do artistic feats that I had not thought possible a year ago. I'm slowly bringing a comic strip I created into life, thanks to Poser. The comic strip had sat undone for over a decade because it was just too hard to do "the old fashioned way!" Ron
i feel some better then. i started feeling guilty or something hehehe. in less than three months spending so much on a hobby. me thinks that is why i was broke around Christmas;9 i guess if you have a hobby that you love, it makes sense? i also love teddy bears and porcelin dolls...and i collect them allot. i have a whole room full of babies! i really do feel good about my membership at poserworld. steve shanks and renapd (?) it is great and i feel like i am getting too much for what i paid sometimes. it is great. as well as sams3d, (not satisfied with poser4u yet)but bebop, traveler, magnet and allot of people (to many to name) who take the time and put files in freestuff for us. and people who take the time to share ideas and help newbies. so anyway, thanx. i'll just let my credit card cool off for a bit (day or two) hehehe; and come back for some more posercane.
Same to me,think its about 250 $ average a month. But some thoughts: Because of bad buisiness here in germany I lost my job and 40% of my income in november.Couldnt spend so much money for poser anymore.( max 50$/month) So I played more with the things i bought before. There were so many things in the libraries i bought, used once and nomore .And i started modelling myself ( nothing big, only some probs and plants) And its still the same fun as it was before.maybe more.
Poser is the first program I've seen that is so versatile. Poser has such great community support. What other program starts with such a wealth of resources, then gets expanded even more by such an abundance of free stuff?! The prices of Poser related stuff are, on average, very low. It's easy to buy a few things here and there, over a period of time. With other computer stuff you might need to save $50-$100 or more just to get one item. I've had many different brands and types of software. Much of it still sits on the shelf because it was so hard for me to learn. With Poser, if I have a question, I can come to Renderosity, ask, and so many fine friendly people will provide great answers. Poser might be an addiction or hobby to some. To others it is also an invaluable tool to help us express our creativity when we might not do so easily with "pen and ink," brushes, etc. Ron
Actually, I've only spent $240 for Poser 4, and the school's licensing gives me Bryce 5 and 3DS Max if I want it (Took 'em up on Bryce, but I paid $40 for AC3D instead of 3DS, because AC3D only takes up 4MB of total HDD space and doesn't eat my printer port.) Luckily, the school even pays for the 3D bandwidth I use (including the serverpro one at $15/month), since it is part of the lab in class now. The vast majority of my personal stuff, including nearly all FPS modelling and env. tools - were downloaded as freebies, or in the case of UnrealEd, came as part of another package. I think I spent a total of $30 on all the FPS stuff since 1995 - and that was for Qoole ("Quake Object-Oriented Level Editor.") The only poser-related stuff I've bought so far is Nicole; My Renderosity purchases total $30.00 as of last night. Of course, we don't want to talk about hardware... or games. those are my main weaknesses :) /P

two more products and decided to calculate how much money i've spent here. i've only been a member here for about three months. i purchased poser one week prior to that. i wanted more in depth tutorials how to use the program because i am not smart enough for the manual. so i did a search for poser tutorials and here was renderosity. i joined. and i love it here soooo much. but... (biting nails) i've spent 571.00 here. and about 325.00 from daz3d and other places. i'm coming almost to 1,000.00 and this is just a hobby! i still have so many things in my wish list, too. now i'm wondering if i am making any sense doing this? i would feel allot better knowing more of you guys are addicted too? and i wonder if vendors can make a incentive for the folks purchasing the products here? like a frequent shopper card, lol. please someone tell me this is normal...to be addicted to poser.
