I'm having a problem with a couple of Poserworld dresses on Vicky. As you can see in the image, the hip part of the dress is sticking out. It does this for other PW dresses also. I tried posing her with the dress already on and then posing her first and then adding the dress, but the result is the same. Any suggestions?

UI think it has to do with the fact isnt designed with that pose in mind. It seems to me that a "sitting" version is different from a "standing" version. Staeveshanks can explain it better than I can, but Im sure thats your problem.

V, you are dead on correct, that is exactly the correct answer. It has to do with the way conforming items are joined and the ranges they have. Jim Burton is/was working on adding something like a third leg to counteract this effect but as far as I know he is still working on it. the only way currently to fix this is to use magnates and make a MT, or to do post work.

That usually happens with extreme poses. I wish this problem could be solved with Poser 5, but I won't hold my breath. Melanie

Nerd3D came out with a "sit skirt." You might want to check it out. Ron

I aught to mention the outcome of the "thrird leg" experment. The goal was to produce a skirt that could be sat in, not a special version. I couldn't get it to work, but I dod use the third leg in a seperate, sit down dress, so it wasn't a total loss. This one is manually operated from the hips down, with extra morphs in the hip, but the 3rd leg does most of the work. Anyway, as you can see, with careful adjustment Vickie can even sit cross leg in it, nothing is pokeing out anywhere. The regular and the sitdown one share the same object file too. This one is in Vickies new cloting pack, which hopefully will be up at DAZ this weekend. I'm probably going to do a free upgrade for the dress in SMV's new package too, they aren't that hard once I figured it out. The last sit down I did had the mesh pre-formed, this way is much better.

You know, Ron, if you watch that animation, its almost like the longest version is starting to break up at the hip. Something is happening to the vertices there. Wonder if we can convince anyone for a cloth plug-in like Maya has?

Put in simple words, for the modeling ignorants like myself.. this mostly has to do with the fact that vickie's joints (those extra buttocks) are even worse for skirts and long or tight dresses than P4woman (having just hip & legs). If you check out the Poser manual on how a model should be grouped, what we have to do on a skirt or dress is a definate NO-NO!That's why vickie's dresses or skirts don't have any buttocks assigned. Why isportraited so good in the manual with the horse buttocks.. pretty explanatory stuff even for the ignorants like me! :o) I'm afraid that when bending beyond a certain angle or sitting is involved.. best way would be to pose the figure, save the pose as preset, then POSE the figure with that preset (not conform) and then move the dress in place.. OR ofcourse.. use sitting skirt prop presets like the ones shown above! :o) Hopefully Poser5 will come with a solution about this..something in the air about dynamic clothing bending...
