Subject: 2D Graphics Apps ('Shop, PSP, Painter...)

heyas; is it just me? i would kinda like it better if the photoshop forum and the paint shop pro forum were all in one spot, not two. they're so similar in techniques, they take the same filters, the same brushes, etc.... actually, since '3d apps' has one forum (rhino, nendo, amorphium... everything but bryce/poser/ray dream), i thought that 2d apps would make one good one. maybe painter would be separate, it is quite different. or maybe painting apps (and/or photo apps) in one area, and 'drawing' (vector) apps in another? i dunno, just a thought. :)

The reason for the split was due to the fact that both programs use different Filters, which we plan to offer and felt that it would have been confusing to people when filters or brushes are shared with the community. As for the 3D apps forum, the reason that they are all combined under one, rather than seperate (which we hope will be in the future), is due to the lack of admins that we have that are specialized with some of those programs. Again, hopefully that will change as time moves on. We feel that it is very important to break things down to keep things organized and to keep confusion from being a headache. In the next couple of months, we will be making some adjustments to the forum to make it easier to view and much much more interesting to visit and be a part of. Please, if you or anyone has comments, questions or suggestions, feel free to ask, it helps us figure out the best way to server everyone's needs. Thanks!! Jack

Cmon EGT! BTW - bloodsong - What does "heyas" mean? Is that a legalistic term like "whereas"? geep wants to know.

heya; heyas is more than one 'heya.' :) jack: i don't understand what you mean that shop and psp use different filters. they use the same filters on the same plug-in architecture, and they do use the same brushes (just a differently named extension.) which is why i thought they should be combined in the first place. :/ hmmm... :🤷: :) now painter i can see having it's own forum, that thing is complicated!

You can not us Photoshop extension filters with PSP they have to be converted before they can work. Which can be a major pain in the butt. But yes you can mix or match em, you just have to convert them first.... Now let's say I combined them and put them under one forum. I think when people shared the filters with people we would have the same confusion that we get with P3 figures and P4 figures, where many P3 users spent time downloading it only to find out it wouldn't work. Couple that with people who have to pay by minute to be online (say UK for example) who download 6 megs of PS filters on a 56k modem and find out the 10 minutes they just spent downloading was for nothing, then spend 2 days shouting "why doesn't it work?" and get even more upset because now they have to download a 5 meg coverter. All because the person who uploaded the file never stated what program it was used for. That is what I aim to avoid and why I made seperate forums for PSP and PS. Jack

Thank you Jack. For your "paying attention to details". If more people in positions of responsibility in this world would do that, this world would be alot less messed up than it is. Again, THANK YOU, and - Don't give an inch - stick to you guns. geep

Heyas, personally I feel that both Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro have enough differences and are individually BIG enough to warrant their own forums. And lets not forget that just because something is called the Photoshop Forum, that doesn't mean we can't discuss all the many, many other various products that work directly with Photoshop and are produced by Adobe, like Imagestyler and Premier and Illustrator and InDesign. Entire books have been written and rewritten on both; yes, there is enough learning and techniques and references to give these unique programs their own place. And heyas, I do agree with the fact that we certainly do need a Painter Forum. An awsome program with sooo many hidden attributes!! ~3DSprite
