THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce to Poser?

Vially ( ) posted Sat, 02 March 2002 at 11:29 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 3:01 AM

Simple question, I know I can Import Poser files into Bryce, but what about the other way around. Is there ANY way to get a Bryce made object, into Poser? I can't seem to even find an Export for anything except terrains. Any help on this would be great. Thanks, Vially

As mentioned many times before, only "editable" objects -- those imported (obj., dxf, etc) or those made with the terrain editor or lattice editor can be exported.

And stones, everybody forgets stones. Don't know why you may need to, but please don't throw any at me.lol

Bryce renders so much better than Poser, why would you want to?

Laurie S ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2002 at 12:09 PM

Bryce renders better than Poser over all , but I often find that Poser will do better with the actual Poser models.. what I mean is that often textures and so on especially for characters, do not look as good in Bryce no matter what you do . Vially when I really need a character to be sharp and detailed I often create the scene in Bryce , every thing that will be behind the character and export the background image to poser .. then set up the poser character in Poser and use the Bryce image as a background and render .. make sure that you rendered the Bryce file to disk first so that you can get a really high res image to use. If you are going to have things in front of the character you will have to render those in Bryce .. then make a mask render and composite it all in a paint program .. not the perfect solution but it is the best I have found so far s.

I agree with you Laurie, Poser does a better job rendering figures. Especially when trying for photo realism.

The reason I ask at all is that I've made a bottle in Bryce, thinking "Hey this will be perfect for such and such poser scene..." Well okay, so now I have a perfect bottle in one program, the scene in another, and no way for the two to come together Thanks for all the replies

I have been going the opposite way from Laurie, but it's the same idea. I have been using Poser renders on 2D faces in Bryce. It saves render time (by a ton!), eliminates fixing all the textures, and resolves most lighting issues provided you rendered your poser scene with your Bryce lighting in mind. Two pieces in my gallery use this technique:

Earth Mother (Most recent)
Clandestine Meeting (First attempt)

Laurie S ( ) posted Sun, 03 March 2002 at 8:32 PM

Yes I have done that as well Kieraw.. your images are wonderful examples .. I love that character in "Earth Mother" ..which way I go often depends on the image and the light set up in both programs ..(mind I favor being able to turn and do the final pose tweeks with a model that I can manipulate) .. it is great that there is a way no matter what... using a pic object also works great once in a while when I want to bring a tree or something I have painted into Bryce .. so many tricks to explore .. so little time g. Vially, I can not think of a way to do this in just the one program .. you can take your whole scene into Bryce but then you will loose your light set up ,, and wow you would have some work ahead of you getting all the textures in place.. wish we could have found a solution for you.

Thank you Laurie and others who commented. =) You could mask render the object, Vially, and comp it into your scene in Photoshop. I wish Poser worked better with Bryce, but Vue is really the better program for dealing with Poser files. It imports entire PZ3s, very little tweaking needed.

Attached Link: http://www.datamike.com/susu.htm

kieraw: If you are exporting posers as 2d faces to Bryce you can have them animated using my Bryce add-on: "Susanna Poser to Bryce 4/5". Susanna had previously this feature but it has now been expanded to have the AVI/BMP sequence played on as material (not just animated 2d face). Check out the anims "Movie time" and "Blob" at www.datamike.com/susu.htm [end of blatant commercial].

Wow, I don't think I had ever seen Susanna before. Interesting program to say the least. Thanks for the link. =)

it is a quite rediculous complication concidering the two programs were made by the same people not so long ago. i find poser most infuriating to use and my only use is to use a figure to provide some sort of scale of things in bryce

Fractal Design made Bryce, too? I thought Bryce was an independent product that was purchased by Metacreations, and then Metacreations later purchased Poser from Fractal Design Corporation.
