There are a lot of people (including me) who are now convinced that "Ms. Trie's" Stephanie is the new Michael character.I dunno, VS.. I think Daz is just doing the smart marketing thing, like a lot of merchants do. Vicki/things for Vicki/female models and whatnot sell. If 70% of your buyers are getting things for Vicki or other female models, it makes sense that 70% of the items you make be fore those female models. Personally I would like to see more Mike stuff. I would use him more, for sure. But for now my Mike wears female hair (since good Mike hair in the styles I want doesn't exist) and I usually have to put him in P4 form so I can actually clothe the man. Having said all that, if Ms. Trie's Stephanie is indeed the new Michael character, and if that character can wear Vicki's clothing and textures, it looks like a nice alternative to Vicki. She has a softer less plastic look to her that appeals to me.
Well, we don't totally know who or what the Mystery Model is but it's going to be interesting to find out. I totally agree with VS. DAZ puts a model out and the doesn't do much to support it in regards to accessories (clothing, hair, etc.) I can understand why alot of people use Vicky. Her accessories are so diverse. Poor Mike just doesn't get the attention he should get, unless he's made into so morbid figure or ghastly character. There are a few of us that do try to use Mike and wish there was more available for him. OK..I'm going back in the corner now and lurk..Oh look, there's Mike..he does need some company...LOL
Oh, I knew that kieraw...after I posted my message, I realized that I had forgotten to mention this it's not totally DAZ's fault for not having that much available for Mike. They should talk with their brokered artists and see if they couldn't do more for Mike. If your going to have a product, at least support it. I know there is clothing and things for Mike, but they don't fit, at least not if you use the muscular morphs. And it's been way too long for the conforming clothing that was being done for Mike2 to come out. I know, they want to make sure it's right before releasing it but stuff for Vicky is always showing up at a regular pace. Come on VS, help me out here. I fell like I'm working in a hole that keeps getting deeper and deeper.
Here's a list of things I wish I had for Michael: 1) Goth clothes (tight pants, boots, ruffled poet shirt, fitted long jacket with big lapels and large cuffs) - see hottopic.com or the movie Interview with a Vampire for some basic examples. ;) Would be great if they at LEAST fit the basic appropriate full body morphs (thin, young, toned, etc). This set could also double as a vampire outfit. 2) Cyberpunk clothes. Not armor. I am talking ripped fishnet shirts over black tee shirts, vests, combat pants that tuck into some decent boots, and good jewelry and hair to match. Sort of "The Crow" like. People try to do this with his body suit, but it would be nice to have actual conforming pieces that look good. Or, for something really wild, clothes like Brad Pitt's in Fight Club. Fun, different stuff. Mike is tired of being boring. ;) Think Mike as a raver. 3) Strider from Lord of the Rings. 'Nuff said. ;) 4) More period clothing in general, preferably to match some of Vicki's available sets. 6) Native American Mike. Doesn't have to be Native American in particular; Daniel Day Lewis looked pretty good in his hybrid colonial/native gear in Last of the Mohicans.
Gawd, there is a wealth of clothing ideas in the world. Look at clothing fashions past and present. I would love to see more Native American clothing, current trends in male fashions, ANYTHING as long as it FITS Mike2 with the muscular morphs. More Western wear. As Eowyn said..JEANS..something that actually looks like jeans. Shirts and jackets that can be opened as in the dress shirt for Mike. If you really look and think about it, there is a ton of clothing and hair styles that could be made for Mike.
If everyone that wanted things for Mike would contact Daz, I am sure they would try to make them.. Daz made Mike2 so they are responsible for clothing him as well and not leaving it up to a "brokered Artist". They seem like nice people, send them a mail... As for the mystery model, I agree 100% with VirtualSite, that's gonna be a big disappointment
When I look at him I see him as a pretty well stocked character uhm... okay. I would kill for a decent tailored three piece suit for Mike. I know that Poserworld has one, but it's all one piece. Give me one that's in separate parts and DOESN'T look like David Byrne's Big White Suit from Stop Making Sense. Beyond that: things with a little more contemporary flair. All of Mike's stuff is hopelessly trapped in the "classic" look: polo shirts, suspenders, sweaters, and the like. But IMHO the few attempts at doing something like the greatcoat used in Matrix have failed in capturing the structure of it. Need inspiration? Pick up a copy of Details or Homme Vogue. But face it: if you go beyond the usual RPG outfits and the basic clothing packs, what have you got? Not much. We got "Barbarian Vickie" and "Dread Pirate Vicky" and more damn Vicky lingerie than you can shake a stick at, and if the Mystery Model is indeed yet another Vicky variant, then my initial statement stands: they should just align with Mattel and rename Vickie Barbie. And I'm not surprised we can't find more materials for Mike -- or the P4Guy, for that matter. As I've long maintained, the overwhelming majority of Poser users seem to be guys who can't get a date. =) Unless someone else can explain the overwhelming amount of "oooo sexy..." stuff out there for everyone's favourite cyber blowup doll. It just never ceases to amaze me that people complain that this program isn't taken seriously by professionals while forgetting just what's out there for it. Right now, it's every little boy's low-cost Fantasy Machine, and any attempts to make it a little more professional just continue to get lost in that obvious little fact.
Definitely a ruffled poet shirt, something romantic. Also, a longer, loose fitting open-front vest. Maybe something like a vagabond might wear, too. Something bohemian and comfortable. I've been hoping for something like these for Mike for a long time, but I don't know the first thing about modeling clothing. I don't even know how to start. Melanie
how would better contemporary clothing or a Matrix coat for Michael make Poser more professional? The professional modellers out there have this image of Poser that's pretty much in line with what you see in our gallery: they see it as little more than a cheap software that's directed at users who don't care for much beyond easy T&A. If we could make the line a little more diverse (which happens, but only in the smallest of ways), it might show that Poser is more than just a cheap-thrill machine.
OK it makes more sense to me now. I think it's statistics. The majority of computer users are men. The majority of digital artists are men. The majority of men like to look at naked women or women in general. (This is why porn sites are the only internet industry to consistently make HUGE profits from day one. One woman with a web site filled with pictures of just her and netted 6 million dollars last year.) I don't think it's about professionalism; I think it's about profit.

And speaking of more for Mike. here's another message thread for western wear, specifically chaps.Men used to dress like peacocks. Think of all those centuries full of lace and frills and bright-colored livery (over which the texturers could go crazy). Men used to be elegant. (How many ways to tie a cravat?) I would love something Baroque or Elizabethan or even REAL Gothic. And what about other fabrics? They drape differently. Brycetech has a neat way of doing fur, but has anybody made a fur-lined cloak or tall fur hat for the men? PS, I would kiss anybody who could do Saruman's robes (all 3 layers) and boots. Carolly
While anyone is whipping up their latest series of scanty bikinis, throw in a few jockstraps for Mike, please? And more than just one style. What I'm really looking for is untidy, down-right wornout clothes. And, yes, I would snap up in a heartbeat, anything goth, ripped, or ruffled. As long as you can open it up to the waist. Just to get myself out of a hot and sweaty mood--Am I the only one who thought Stephanie looked an awful lot like Vickie?
Overkill!!! I think it's way past overkill. I don't even check the galleries much anymore because all the pics are starting to look the same....T&A....and by the way...how is it that nude Vicky pics don't have to be labeled as nudity. OK, going back to the corner and lurk with Mike again. Poor guy is going to get a complex.
Something I once suggested to Rena and Steve, but I don't think they're gonna follow through on it: medieval Russian costumes for both Mike and Vicky -- big, jewel-encrusted robes, great big hats, these things are a texture artist's fantasy come true. Then, later in the 19th century, the Boyar uniforms: again, big, beautiful stuff, reminiscent of the guards in The Wizard of Oz.

Punto, no question that some people are pushing the boundaries on what Poser can do; David's is amazing, and I always look forward to his most recent creations. But that has little to do with how it's seen by the professional community at large, and the professional community sees Poser as a toy, pure and simple. Bryce has the same, unwarranted reputation; that one I hear almost constantly from people who work in my industry. And part of Poser's unfortunate image comes from the way it's used and developed.
