Subject: vob creation problem

roadtoad ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 6:56 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 7:19 AM

I'm trying to get together some vobs to share, but I'd like to get a handle on how to position them before saving so the preview shows the best angle or specific detail; and the default main camera view I have isn't the angle that appears in the vob preview. Where is the vob camera located? -mikeowen

I don't think you can control that at all. At least, I haven't found a way. Just like the atmosphere previews... Drives me nuts, too.

I don't understand ? When I change my camera to another position, the small preview window shows exactly what I have in my main cam window.

Atmospheres shows up immediately while adding clouds or whatever. The problems of the bad preview existed only in Vue 4 to Vue 4.03, but NEVER in Vue 4.05-02!

Maybe you should update.

I don't know, Guitta. I have 4.05-02 running. I just did this, as a test, what you see in the screenshot. The three tables with the blue glass top. I saved it 3 times, each with a separate name, and the camera angles at the time of each save were drastically different. Win 98 Vue 4.05-02

Mike,I misunderstoud what was said. I thought you were speaking about the small preview window at right in the world browser... Yes, I agree with this one. But it doesn't disturb me very much. Me too, Win 98:-). It disturbs me much for the atmospheres, even the original atmospheres included in Vue don't come up as shown. Guitta

I'm 4.05.02 on w98v1, and maybe I should have made my syntax less twisted. It's the vob preview picture you get once you've created a vob and go to object|load to see the preview you just made. It isn't the same view as what you see in main window where you've posed for best view. It's irky because presentation is an important part of the creation to this old toad.It seems like it couldn't be hard for e-on's coders to just shackle it to the main camera so we could have control of the presentation ??

Yeah, that atmosphere one gets to me too. roadtoad, you could add that to the ongoing Vue 5 Wish List. I don't know if they're working on a Vue 5 yet, but before too long I'm planning on sending that along to them. Last year's wish list for Vue 4 ended up having something like 80% or more of our sugggestions put into Vue 4. That wasn't from here though, but rather, from the Yahoo Vue list.

I think, instead of trying to turn your camera angle for having a good look at your object (wich looks impossible to do) why not turning the object itself ? My two cents thinking :-/

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 1:58 PM

Yes, Bop, that does work. :)

The icon preview camera seems to be positioned somewhat northwest. It's not directly north and not directly west, but somewhere between the two. And sometimes it seems to be southwest, so go figure. Having it aligned with the Main Camera view would be a great addition to the wishlist. :)

thanks for the info - i've put it into the osity wish thread, and will send direct to e-on too - with its non-persistent cookie yahoo is too much effort to use.
