Subject: C & D

Hi everyone.. Could we have the C&D back again... PLEASE i'm begging you here... smile look at this forum now, and take a look at the others too.. i haven't seen so many locked threads ever ! C&D was a cool place to go, and most of the time, it was just friendly debates, nothing compared to what's going on here and now. I don't think (and hope) you'll close the "Forum News" too... I can't see you closing every forum one after another for the same reasons C&D was closed. So pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase, put it Back online. Am i the only one thinking this way here?? I'd like to know your opinion ;o) Thanks Cecile

Jack D. Kammerer ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 6:26 PM

How about instead of calling it the COMPLAIN & DEBATE forum we call it the CEASE & DESIST forum? Jack

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 6:27 PM

I wish it were back, it was a cool place to hangout in between working. I made more friends there than anywhere else on the site... even ones who began as adversaries in various debates.

Curio ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 6:33 PM

I can't say I've been frequenting the forums since the end of C&D - not sure if thats good or bad - bad probably - certainly, some of the sense of community is gone - I'd certainly welcome C&D back with open arms! :)

Lucy_Fur ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 7:08 PM

I've always thought a better name would be the Rant And Rave forum G But it is true that without the C&D outlet - and yes, it was an outlet for many a folk - it's inevitable that these type of posts are going to end up in many different forums throughout Renderosity. At least with one main area designated for such things, C & D posts were easier to track and manage - now it's like an Easter Egg hunt.

I miss C&D for the debates and the humor (some of which we still have in the Tavern, but somehow it's not quite the same, especially the debates). And yes, it's important to have a place for people to let off a little steam. You can't expect people to just not complain. Ain't gonna happen. BUT, most of the crap that's been locked here would be locked anywhere, and rightfully so. In fact, I would have locked most them much earlier in the game. Flame wars we don't need anywhere, be it here, C&D, or the Canoma forum (although it doesn't seem to be much good for anything else...;) I'd love to see C&D return, or at least something simliar, but NOT as another "wild west" free-for-all. Although I don't remember it ever being as ugly for as long as this forum has been recently... :(

Sasha_Maurice ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 7:12 PM

oh yes please! it's a real drag having to search ALL the forums to read the arguments. It would be real handy to have them all back in one place again! :-D

bshafer :)

Ironbear ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2002 at 7:54 PM

We have flame wars in the Canoma forum? boggles

C&D was usually my first stop... Life interrupted for a while and when I come back, it's gone!

MadYuri ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 1:35 AM

I want my C&D back. But we could give it another name, like 'Troublemaker's Hangout' or such.

bonbon ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 1:52 AM

C&D was a wonderful place to hang out in... geezus i and sonofbonbon lost the wonderful thread that was from everyone when he was in the hospital last Jan. He never got to see that thread because it was taken down before he had the chance. I was so touched by everyone who reached out to him and I during that time. So,in spite of the bickering and sniping, the forum did have it's good points... bring it back but maybe we could call it the corner... you know like when you did something bad mom would send you to the corner... at least i got sent there alot, lol

zardoz ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 3:32 AM

Yep! I also want the C&D forum back!

Impudicus Rex ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 5:54 AM

Ah! you see what you'ver done? You get rid of the corral and you're left with free-range malcontents. I think it much wiser to round up all the barnyard beasties into one pen so they don't go wanderin' into the other forums to take a dump. MadYuri's suggestion has great merrit. If we call the new C&D 'Troublemaker's Hangout', then everyone will know what to expect when they visit! Won't they?

Mehndi ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 6:18 AM

sighs I know what you mean about losses that hurt the very soul BonBon. The thread where Russell and I first went to meet one another was in there, with all the people wishing us well. This place feels empty for me, souless and somehow dead now, without that there. C&D was alot more than just a troublemakers hangout, it was the heart and soul of this place for alot of us. I am so glad you son is doing better now, btw. I still pray for him and strength for you every day.

x2000 ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 6:56 AM

"We have flame wars in the Canoma forum?' Nah, but if we're going to move bad threads, where better to put them? After all, there's no chance that anyone's actually going to go there to read them, right? ;) You know Bonbon, Mehndi, a thought occurred to me the other day: some of us have been talking about Bonestructure a lot in the Tavern, but every post I'VE ever seen by him here was always in C&D. So when they deleted that, they pretty much deleted everything he ever said here! Hell, most of everything I'VE ever said here, as well. So much site history just gone. Hell, C&D was the only place where anything ever really happened! I mean, you're not really going to get much out of the archives of, say, the Lightwave forum, now are you? Of course, maybe that was part of the idea, to wipe out all of the ugly bullshit that's happened here, so that we could start with a clean slate and forge a kinder, gentler site? Worked great, too, didn't it? 8P

x2000 ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 10:10 AM

In the interest of peace and harmony, I must apologize for my constant jokes about the Canoma forum. I realize now that my remarks could be found offensive by all of its loyal devotees, and I apologize to both of you.

AprilYSH ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 10:21 AM

ahhh hahahaha sigh :) you guys, if a forum like c&d or even c&d itself were (re)opened... i doubt if the history threads will be put back. a mod mentioned there was development in that direction (an outlet forum) but haven't heard boo since.

x2000 ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 10:44 AM

No, those old threads are obviously gone for all time. I read that mention of a new general topic forum, too, but honestly, there's not much point at this stage. If they can't keep THIS forum from spontaneously combusting every day, there's no reason to think the new one would be any calmer. Too many arsonists, not enough fire extinguishers. To put it as plainly as possible, nothing's going to change until changes are made, you know what I mean?

elgeneralisimo ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 11:22 AM

Make elgeneralisimo's a C&C... wait, nevermind, wrong forum...

nikitacreed ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 11:26 AM

I want the C&D back too. :o(

Mehndi ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 12:28 PM

X2000 maybe it is all the changes that have folks so worked up and cranky anyway.

x2000 ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 1:33 PM

Ah, but Mehndi, that's because the changes we've HAD and the changes we NEED are quite different. It's like going to the hospital with a broken leg and having them remove one of your kidneys. Then one of your eyes. Then it's out with your teeth. Off with your ears. And your leg's STILL broken! But I know YOU know what I'm talking about...

Mehndi ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 1:44 PM

ROFLMAO! Yeah, I know.

Brendan ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 3:54 PM

I spent a fortune having my balls enlarged, just so I could bare them in the C & D Forum !, and then it was gone ? As an act of mercy, please could we have OUR C&D Forum Back. Please !

... perhaps if we bribe them with gifts...

Brendan ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 4:21 PM

Oooh they just grew a bit more !

JeffH ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 4:28 PM

Well, C&D will never come back, but the OT Forum is almost here.

Legume ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 4:38 PM

that's just too damn rich.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 12 March 2002 at 8:55 PM

Hmmm... when WAS the last time we saw a picture of Vicki caught flat-footed? elgeneralisimo can probably print an entire series of coffee table books like those "24 Hours in Xxxx" or "Pretty Villages of Yyyyy". No need for naked Vickis, just bare toes perched on artistic surfaces. And then VirtualSite can do the Backstage Bloopers shot showing The Kid and an armload of those hosiery-display legs... with all of them being left feet. ;^) Carolly

nfredman ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 3:18 PM

If the C&D were turned into another kind of virutal tavern, perhaps it would be the "Stomp and Gripe" or the "Tongue and Boot?" ;^) Love the Backstage Bloopers idea, Carolly.
