I usually take my prints to Kino's to have them done, and they always looks awesome (well, quality wise ;) ) but I decided I need to do some of the printing here at home because it is just not feasable to run to Kinko's (30 miles away) and they are very costly. So I went out and bought a HP Deskjet 1220C Printer that handles up to 13"x19x paper and has up to 2400 dpi (tho I haven't figured out how to get it to that level) Any suggestions on how to get the best output from this printer or any printer would be greatly appreciated. I spent my IRS refund on the printer and a bunch of different sized photo and inkjet quality papers, both glossy and matte so I am primed and ready =) Thanks much, JDexter

Cool, Thanks MadYuri, I will go right there! (BTW, I fooled around with the setting and use the phot-matte paper and it was amazing the output I got, talk about inspiration to do more!)

I have the HP 1200C Printer, An Epson 600, and a Lexmark 3200. In my experience with these printers the Lexmark takes first with the Epson close behind it. The HP doesn't come close in my opinion. I now use HP for simple prints and black and white because in black/white mode it looks like a laser, and for high detailed/resolution pics I use the Lex and then the Epson. My 2 cents ..... Me too-ism TMGraphics. What so many forget is that the paper is AS important as the the printer. I perfer thicker glossy. Kodak Premium Picture Paper is really good. If you really want to blow your mind, print it out on quality glossy, then mat it and frame it. Like wow...

I have to concur with you on that geo, I've tried them all and that particular one rocks!

Another good one is the one with the Indian Duse on it - the premium glossy bright white one

I've heard folks use "archival inks" too. They tend not to fade over time.

I wonder if the 1220 is an upgrade to the 1200C? The output is amazing from it. My big wish list was for an Epson wide ink printer, but the one I wanted was just at 1K in price and I couldn't go there (maybe next xmas) I used printed the same render on the Kodak High gloss, soft-gloss and the matte and the glossy is the best. The matte is good too, but the colors are just too muted. JDexter

Im not sure, but I got 'dotty' looking pictures from mine. Get photo quality from the Epson and Lexmark. My HP is gathering dust, I paid 399.00 for it. I almost bought an Epson at that time too.

Maybe you should pull it out and we should try setting it together, I can't imagine they would have upgraded it enough with such a minor model change, I am getting no dots at all, and I agree, I really expected to see that from an HP (remember when HP was THE printer? ;) ) I was really impressed with the output and I took a looking glass to it too because I was suprised. Still wish I could have afforded the Big-guy Epson. /sigh But I am also happy with this one. JDexter

I looked at it and its a 1000C model ! Sorry for the confusion! Maybe I was thinking of my Mustec 1200 scanner?!! Either way, my 1000 model doesn't output as well as the other 2.
