I recently obtained to new computors, a new I-Mac (which I have not had the time use). The company I work offered all employees a "FREE" pc, with option to upgrade it... cheap. So I got a new PC. I wanted it for the XP, anyway... it is a P4 1.8, 256 ram, 120 gb hard drive,64MB DDRnVidia GeForce3 Titanium. Here is the problem, I loaded Poser and some my goodies and tried it out. I used Mike2 with High res Tex, and casual hair, and some very good lights. It rendered very well,so I and another mike2 and same tex and hair.... no problem, I thought man this great. I closed out POSER and came back hour so later and loaded POSER... this time only half of my Work space loaded. It was missing: Figure selected Element selcted Window size Figure tracking Window color I shutdown and restarted, same thing I unistalled POSER, and installed it again, same thing. Tried calling CL all day, left message, and filled out E-mail help. While I am waiting for some support any idea? Thanks niles

Sorry, I don't know how to help :( I DO know it probably is not a Max/Poser problem because we haven't seen anythink like that here.

I can't offer you any hands on advice, since I'm using ME, but what I have seen mostly good comments regarding Poser and XP. If I had to guess, I would say it had something to do with software that was installed improperly (were logged in as administrator when you installed it?) Did you delete the old installation folder and restart before attempting to reinstall? I know that there are files that store information about the preferred state, and they can become messed up.

One of the first things you do with any new computer, is to go online and then click on Start, look for Windows Update. I guarantee you'll find some Windows updates waiting for you. The next question concerns Poser itself: Did you check to see that you had Poser 4.03?! If not, you need to get the update from Curious Labs. You might go to the Edit Menu, General Preferences, then choose Launch to Factory State, and Use Factory State, then click OK. I've included a screenshot to help. Let us know if any of this works. You may also have to do what I did the other night. It is possible that XP is not running Poser correctly. I upgraded to Win2K and couldn't run Poser at all. I had to install the software compatibility tool and set Poser to run under WinNT 4 sp3. That did the trick. Of course, I am not sure if XP works the same way, but it is an option

I guarantee you that Windows XP has no problems with Poser. In fact, Poser runs better under Windows XP Home Edition than it did under Windows ME or Windows 2000 Pro. That is based upon my own experience. However, it is most important to seek Windows Updates, even on a new computer, ASAP... We really did not get much info relating to configurations, etc...That info can be critical.

Let me underscore Ron's comment. Get the updates! I just finished setting up a new computer with XP and was getting various errors...until I updated. It runs smoothly now.

I run XP PRO and have now Problems. You might need to update your video driver because there was a problem with Open GL on PNY GEO Force which they released a new driver for XP a few weeks back. With all the downloads that are available on the net make sure you have virus protection.

Surely it is nothing to do with XP Looks more like a Poser Preferences problem. or instaled incorrectly.

I've had XP Home for nearly a month now and Poser has been running like a dream, it was the first program I loaded on and I'm still amazed at how much faster it is on this machine than my old machine, but I agree download all the updates straight away
