OK kiddies listen up. I have reworked the lighting in the picture and have been pondering over what you have said about putting something in the middle. I thought about it and decided that if anything, I believe I would like to put a keep in the castle walls. But on the other hand if I do, I will lose a lot of the enemy camp and it is a important factor as well. Because I dont reallyh have the time (or the patience) to experiment with this I will let you help me decide wether I would like to put a keep in there or not. So let me know what you think so far (especially on the lighting and the atmosphere) and don't mind the floating flag, I just now notced that. Thanks Tempest

The lighting is better, but there's that damn horizon line spoiling it. Dunno if you can do anything about that. You've picked a hard scene to render, but with the darker skies the fires should turn out well as just faint flickers. I'd definitely put something in the castle. A tent, a keep, a bif pile of rocks, something. It's looking good though.

Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been working on the god forsaken fires for quite a while now and well lets just say that if this does not turn out I will probably kill bryce. Thanks for the input Tempest

Well I would put something there inthe center.. Right now it sort of is a place without living areas at all ... I would also face the flags the same direction, the wind wouldn't blow from both sides like it would need to be doing to make the flags go like that (floating aside). The main torches in the towers appear to be a little big (approxiamately 10-15 feet tall to my recokoning). I would also increase the scale of the gate wall to match the surrounding area .. Normally they didn't shrink that much for the most vulnerable area of the walls. Another thing is that typically the attacking army would be camped out in front of the gates .. That way no one can come in, right now it seems you speak of placing the armies behind the keep which would allow anyone to leave through the gates .. Most castles were also placedon hills or at least a mound as well so they would be higher than the surrounding territory ... Sorry to appear picky and to complain a lot but I love this time period S I like what you have to start with though (believe it or not) but just was trying to help out ..

Well, basically Ghostofmacbeth explained it all. I will just have to say that I agree with the terrain...it's too flat. Maybe some trees or a little river in the background. The horizon is a little odd too. Maybe some dark haze will fix that. -Adam

You are some pretty observant people, especially about the wing, I just thought it looked interesting but realism is important. I was wondering as to how I am ever going to get a blacksmith in there though... any suggestions on that would be greatly appreicated. As for the keep, I am presently adding that, changing the camera angle and perspective as a whole working on the sky fixing those abnormally large lamps although if I make them to small people tell me they can't tell where the light is coming from and yadda yadda yadda. Next version will be up sometime tomorrow (hopefully) so you guys can tear it apart :) Thanks for the input Tempest

A blacksmith would probably be lost but typically they ran around the interior of the walls .. Any of the extra buildings like stables, blacksmith etc ... What I would personnaly do though you would loos some of your work and you might need some other details like poser people if you can get them is drop the angle of the camera a lot and have it lookign up at the castle.. you would still see the keep looming in the distance and you could have tons of people and campfires and seige engines around it .. a few in the foreground to add details and block out some of the other areas so you don't need as much stuff S That is how I get by on a kinda slim computer .. hide stuff .. Good luck and hpe I helped some .. Just my idea
