Hi folks,

Here is a very quick wip render of my newest, probably most ambitious project to date, "The Citadel". This monster structure is going to suit your fantasy and sci-fi needs to a tee. This image is rendered totally in Poser 4 with the only postwork being the torch flames/lens flare and the mist over the spellcasting basins. The citadel is a huge structure, highly detailed and textured and sports A TON of props, most of which have multiple texture schemes (with mat pose files for quick change). I don't want to get into a full list of props and stuff, I'm still doing a few finishing touches.

This was designed to be used as a sort of cathedral for the unholy, but works perfectly for a throne room or ritual/worship room....I'll tell you more when I'm ready to put this whole thing on the market.

Comments are welcome and appreciated as always,

Davo

ps, sorry for the low-res image, I had to compress it a bit, otherwise it would look nice and crisp.

Here's the front door (again, a very quick wip), rendered totally in poser 4, no postwork.

Awesome!! Also looks primo adaptable. That mosaic entry floor is to die for. Any way to turn those Pentacles around-- just in case you want to fight for the good guys. grin Emily

WOWWWWWW! I like 8-)

davo ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 3:43 PM

weeelll...if you open the texture in a paint program and do a cut/paste/flip, that ought to do it :-) Thanks for the compliment Queri, the pentacles have been much subject of debate over which is for the good guys and which is for the bad guys...grrrrrr...heh heh Davo

Looks like a real MUST HAVE!

Thanks Daio and dmtyler, don't judge the project just by this image, there is more included with this set that you don't see than you can see =^O This is a total environment set, inside and out, it's HUGE! More than 30 props including alters, torches, thrones, falsewalls, banners, tapestry, gross statues, spell basins, beziers, cauldron set and more! Everything is finely textured and you are ready to rock and roll with this bad boy. There's even a pit hidden under that alter in the center that has 2 sliding doors over it, you can open it up and drop your...uh...offerings into it. Davo

Wow, this looks great! It would be a must have for me (and less time consuming than to do myself) if you included some less-evil textures, like without the pentagrams. Just a suggestion, looks great! Jay

By the way, could you tell us how you added the fire in smoke in the first render? :) Is that Eye Candy? Thanks! Jay

davo ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 4:02 PM

Fortunately, the textures are high res and you can use the clone tool in a paint program to cover them up, so that should not be a problem at all :-)

davo ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 4:06 PM

Nope Jaybutton, I took a photo of a house on fire, and cloned in some flame with the clone tool (or stamp tool as some programs call it), just set the edge feathering and transperancy very high and brush it in until it looks good.

queri ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 4:09 PM

This is "The Real Thing" Thank you, thank you!!! Yeah, duh, PhotoShop, I think I could manage to handle that. I know it was a lot of work, but it also looks like a lot of fun. Emily

davo ( ) posted Fri, 26 April 2002 at 4:14 PM

I use corel photopaint 9 myself, it's a little bit easier for me to use :-) Jay: all I did was use the clone, or as some paint programs call it, the stamp tool, to paint in the flame from another photograph (in my case, of a house that was on fire). Just set the feathering, or edge softeness and the transperancy high, then stroke in the flame to your satisfaction. Davo

Looks huge! Thought it was just your typical one room set until I saw the entrance. Incredible stuff! Hope it's not too expensive (although it looks like it'll be worth it whatever the price).

Simply incredible!

Just for reference gang, here's the deal with the star, and the direction it points. The original origins date back to Druidic rituals, and once I dig out my research books I'll post what additional detail I find. Please keep in mind that the original Pentacle dates back to around 3500 BC, and 100% accurate data is impossible to procure. While some accounts state that the pentacle is just the star itself, and the pentagram is the star and circle, these are the most widely stated and accepted 'origins': Pentacle: Star upright on vertical surfaces, or pointing North on horizontal. Used in rituals involving the Winter Solstice, or rituals of rebirth (life). Commonly associated with benevolent, or 'white' magic (The good guys). The pentacle is one of the holy symbols of the Wiccan faith, and believe it or not, was once held as a Christian holy symbol as well, representing the five wounds of Christ on the cross. Pentagram: Star inverted on vertical, pointing South on horizontal. Used in rituals of the Summer Solstice, or rituals of decay (death). Commonly associated with baneful, or 'black' magic (The bad guys). The pentagram was first adopted as 'the symbol of evil' by Eliphas Li in the 19th Century, and was officially adopted as the symbol for the Church of Satan in 1966 by Anton Szandor La Vey, its founder. Don't mistake the pentacle or pentagram for the symbols associated with summonings. Those are different, and are commonly referred to as Thaumaturgist Circles. The pentacle and pentagram were commonly used as channeling foci, with the caster seated or focused at the center. Thaumaturgist Circles were for containment/binding, and were NOT occupied by the caster...they were where the demon/spirit/enity was summoned to, and could not escape from unless released by the caster, or the circle broken. Ok, so I have WAY too much time on my hands, and study a lot of left-field subjects...in any case, the Citadel looks fantastic! :) ChromeTiger

So what does a Thaumaturgist Circle look like and which way up does it go?

WOW, that's a absolutelly fantastic scenery. My card is prepared. SHARKEY

ChromeTiger ( ) posted Sat, 27 April 2002 at 10:38 PM

A thaumaturgist's circle is a little tricky to describe, but I'll give it a shot: One circle inside another circle, approximately one handspan (wrist to tip of middle finger) between them. Between the circles were scribed various runes commonly associated with alchemy and magic. Inside the inner circle was either empty (Thaumaturgist's Circle), or contained an eqilateral triangle (Thaumaturgist's Triangle). If I find any pics online, I'll post ya the links.
