I also bought Amy. The mesh theft issues aside, there is another glaring problem. I understood that Amy was a work in progress, however, it is so far from anything that should have been marketed that it's not funny. Here is an image of Amy. There are two breast morphs in the obj file that is sold. One is "breast up" and the other is "breast small".

In the image I adjusted the Left collar "breast small" morph dial to 1.0; I adjusted the Right collar "breast small" dial to .5. Behold the results...

It got me thinking about the pressure to rush a product to market that is just not ready. So I guess the point is that as much as I'd like to see POSER 5 hit the streets, I'd sure like it to be a finished product first...

That's what I was thinking too when I read all the threads posted here in the last few months about people wishing Poser5 would come out toorrow... I'd rather they take their time and come up with something that's worth the price of upgrading. I'd rather continue with 4 than use a rushed-and-not-quite-ready Poser5. Amy looks like someone jabbed a pencil into her boob all the way to the eraser (even looks like they're starting to deflate a little). And whatever is happening to her other nipple, I hope she gets to a doctor before it's too late. If she keeps up like that, Posette isn't going to want her hands back...

I'm getting less pleased with Amy too the more I look at her. Today, I did a quick render and discovered that she doesn't have a Frown parameter dial on her head AND that you can't move the smile dial to negative numbers. As a result, it's impossible with the standard model to make her look unhappy.

I don't know about that. She doesn't look too happy in the picture above!

Well, nobody would with no hair and what looks like a serious problem with their breasts. :) But, if you look at her face it's set in a rather neutral expression.

Actually it looks more like a smirk. Almost as if she's thinking, "Look at all the suckers that I made spend 50 bucks."

I think as a community we've tried just about everything we can to get the release date. I've been in there with the collective pouting and foot stomping...... zilch. Hey ho, looks like we'll just have to wait and see. For those who remember, the patch will be out September....... :o)

While I understand how much we all want P5 to be "polished" to a high gloss before release I think we also all know how quickly the 3D world is changing. There are many factors in keeping a system like Poser competative and in a leadership position in the market - especially with the market shifting. My point is that there is simply no luxur to have a release be infinitely delayed. There WILL be bugs, there WILL be problems - the issue is, do the new features and abilities compensate for the inevitable problems with a major release. The folks at Curious labs understand this I am sure - I know they will deliver us a product that is ready - but I am also pretty sure they know that there is a HUGE void here and that they need to fill it before someone else does. I will forgive a fair number of problems in P5 if I need to to make sure that Curious and Poser stay in the lead in this area.

Well I agree to some extent. There is absolutely no way anyone could produce a bug-fee, 100% ready to go piece of software. AMY, however, has some significant flaws. That being said, I would like to see a ball park idea of a release date for Poser5 . Even an estimate of 4th Quarter of 2003 would be better than no idea at all. I'm toying with getting Vue d'esprit, primarily for the way it imports and renders Poser scenes. If Poser 5, with its purported new render engine, is a year or more away, I'd probably buy Vue. If it's closer than that I would probably wait and save my meager "hobbysist" dollars for Poser 5. There is an inherent risk for Curious Labs in that as the user base grows, even the casual user will start to yearn for more sophisticated features. As in the case of Vue, another program could come along and interface perfectly with Poser and began to erode the desire to upgrade to Poser 5.

FYI: Imagination Works has finally posted a response.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
