I liked the original and this one as well. One thing I'd like to mention... 3D artists in particular tend to want to show too much in their scenes. I know we work hard on the models and want every detail to show, but the real world isn't like that. The trick to realism is to leave some detail to the shadows. -JH.
heya; yes, the focus is right on in this version. the ground looks better, even if you didnt change it much (at all?). the only thing i find disconcerting is the lack of a shadow on the ground under the figure, somewhere. he should be casting one forward from the light, over the foreground? (maybe it's behind that little hill thing and he's further back than i think), and from the searchlight, a smaller shadow kinda behind him.
Bloodsong, Your right I have been having a hel of a time with the shadows, that is what I am now working on. it has driven me crazy since the begining. as for the ground I did a little to it, mostly just tweak with the depth of the bump map. I tryed doing other stuff but it didn't quite di it fir me, so I put it back. I have to agree with jeff though, I think that the new light scorce makes it a bit unrealistic, but it does give it a neet efect. -Gabe-
