Okay Rob, here goes: I think it's a great render, but the trees seem to be too small. Of course, if it's supposed to be small tree land, then it's okay. The only other thing I can see wrong with it is that it is too crisp, which is a giveaway in 3-d art. I would take it into photoshop or whatever and add just a bit of gaussian blur and maybe a dab of noise. Or, even nuttier still, make a layer copy and filter it with art filter (colored pencil, pastel, etc) and then adjust the layers opacity to about 15 percent and flatten. Final note: composition. I can't get a clear picture on what is going on in the picture. Is she afraid of the Lion? Is the Lion angry? He looks downright happy and I just want to pet him. She is kind of..."This is awkward, didn't expect to see YOU here..." So maybe tweak the faces a little bit more to tell a story. Hope that helps. -Darth Logice
Thanks Darth, This is exactly the kind of feeback I am looking for. I thought crips was good, but I see your point and understand it. Composition wise, your take on it sounds right. The lion is suppose to look wise and friendly. A keeper of mysteries who knows what fate holds in store. As for her, ..."This is awkward, didn't expect to see YOU here..." is exactly what I was going for. So if that came across I did okay, but maybe not great. However, I know now by your comments that I didn't quite get it all to gel just right. So back to work - hi ho!
I see two things off the bat. 1) adjust her eyes so that she is looking at the lion. As it is now I see it asa she is looking at the tip of her nose. 2) make the crown sit better on his head. Needs to be lower and needs shadowing. as for getting your characters to "read" what you want your story to be...well now you know why no one in this forum has had a full nights sleep in months. heh maybe rotate him a bit more. Lower his eyelids. Give him the faintest smirk. jje

Here I go again. As many of you know, I am new not only to Poser but to graphic art in general and am kind of teaching myself along the way. To that end I have created and posted a new image to the Poser gallery "Edge of Never" and would like to ask anyone who would to give me some feedback on it. Posted here to the forum. Oh, and yes while positive comments are always encouraging, they are not alway illuminating. What I really need are comments that will help me get better at this - problems with the image that a trained eye would see, that I am blind to. And if the image sucks, say it sucks and do not spare my feelings. I have thick skin. But, if you can tell me why it sucks, so I that I can learn and improve, then you have my gratitude. Thanks, Rob
